I’m not sure why handheld potato mashers have evolved to focus on the easy-to-clean aspect as opposed to its ability to actually mash anything. The single or double S or fat coil type with silicone handles that negate the value of easy to clean by creating more elbow grease required to achieve a comparable result.This masher is superb, the only modernization being a wider oval surface as opposed to the traditional circle. It still has the IMHO absolutely necessary GRID design that mashes everything from potatoes to beans to chick peas immediately and completely. Seriously, how hard does one think washing a masher is?!The seamless one piece construction of the masher plate and handle makes for a very sturdy kitchen tool.

Very sturdy product. Handle is very comfortable and does a great job mashing potatoes. Haven’t tried it yet on hard boiled eggs however I’m sure it will be great!

I don’t know why it is called a ricer but it really gets the lumps out of mashed potatoes!
