Just what I needed!
I have sensory issues and I’m looking more for something to help me when my kids are getting loud so that I can still hear them when I’m getting anxious. These are extremely comfortable! So much better than the traditional earplugs, reduces, just the right amount of noise, perfect value for the money because of the carrying case is so helpful. I thought the design was a little weird at first but super cool and works really great.

The show was fantastic and all of the bands were amazing
I don't write many reviews. As a matter of fact, I think this may be my second, but I feel compelled to do so after testing these out. A few weeks ago, I went to see Doyle (formerly of the Misfits) along with the Bloodline, Pain, and Sixteen Cylinder at a small club in Maryland. I wore a cheap pair of foam ear plugs to the show. The show was fantastic and all of the bands were amazing. However, my ear plugs blocked out much of the sound. So much so that I kept one out at all times and rotated between my left and right ear just so I could hear the bands. After a few songs, this no longer worked either because I had to squash the plugs to get them in my ear. This would work for a few minutes and then the plug would return to its natural form and I would have to put it back in. Eventually this got annoying, so I gave up entirely on the plugs and enjoyed the music. For the next week, my ears rang and I was concerned that I may have permanently damaged my hearing. Thankfully I have recovered since. This leads me to these plugs by DownBeats. I had the pleasure of seeing Coal Chamber, Filter, Combichrist, and Saint Ridley the other night. I purchased a pair of these ear plugs in advance not wanting to repeat my earlier mistake. If you like your music loud like I do, then these plugs are for you! They do not block out the sound, but reduce it by 18 decibels. This allowed me to hear everything: the music, my wife, the people around me, etc. only at a softer and much more comfortable volume. All of the bands were fantastic and I did not miss a thing . When I left, I had no ringing in my ears whatsoever. That was the biggest benefit for me. Beyond that, I really like the design. They are a sort of cone shape which seems to conform to your ear. I put them and they stayed in until I was ready to take them out. They are also comfortable. There were times in the concert that I had to check to make sure they were still in my ears because I could not feel them. Long story short, if you are looking for a great pair of ear plugs at an even better price, you will not find a better option than these.

Good but not the best
I'm a huge supporter of wearing ear plugs at concerts. They are very important for protecting your hearing and preventing tinnitus, which can be devastating to your quality of life, especially if you are a musician yourself. The reason the music is so loud is so that you can FEEL it, but you don't necessarily need to hear all of it. These work pretty well, but maybe a little too much. Compared to others, these cut out a little too much, and I can hear a loss in quality of the sound. These would probably be better suited for a huge festival environment, but are overkill for a club sound system. I'm also not a huge fan of how small they are. I wish the handle was bit longer to make them easier to take out, but this is probably a plus to some that want a more discrete ear plug. Overall, these are pretty solid. I'm honestly a huge fan of the case, and think they're worth the buy for that alone.

These are my favorites so far
UPDATE 12/23/15: After using these for a while, I've decided that they almost tie for my favorite pair of ear plugs. Definitely worth the reasonable price! The only reason they aren't my "most favorite" pair is that I bought the Alpine MusicSafe ear plugs after writing the original review. The Alpines are probably my favorite overall plugs, because they have different filters that you can change out to fine tune the volume reduction. But the DownBeats are VERY similar to the Alpines, so if you don't want to spend as much, get the DownBeats. You won't be disappointed. ************* ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have these, as well as Etymotic ER20 ear plugs, Erasers Musicians plugs, and I've also used standard foam ear plugs. These are my favorite of all. Here are the details... FIT: These are made of a soft plastic, much like the material of the Etys. They have 2 flanges compared to the Etys 3, and they seem to seal in the ear well without going too deeply into the ear canal. They are by far the easiest ear plugs to insert that I have ever owned. They're also easy to remove, even though the stem doesn't stick out very far from your ear. In comparison, my #1 complaint with the Etys is fit/comfort. The Etys are extremely uncomfortable; they feel like they're poking too far into my ear canal and my ears get sore after wearing them for only a few minutes. The stems stick out too far and make them easy to bump and dislodge from my ears. The Earasers fall somewhere in between DownBeats and Etys for comfort. They don't hurt like the Etys, but they're made of a harder material, so they don't seem to seal as well. I've tried both the small and medium sized Earasers, with similar results from both. SOUND QUALITY: The DownBeats sound pretty good to my ear. They lower the sound enough to make it comfortable to listen. They do muffle the sound somewhat, but not as badly as standard foam ear plugs. To my ears, the Etys also muffle the sound, and at the same time they don't lower the volume enough for me. The Earasers seem to have the most clear sound of the three, but the volume is not lowered enough...I just don't feel that they are protecting my hearing. Some of my problems with the Earasers and Etys not lowering the volume enough may be my own fault. Maybe I'm not getting them inserted properly, but if it's that much trouble to get them inserted properly, they're not the solution for me. So far DownBeats are my favorite plugs. The slightly muffled sound is really the only thing that I'm not 100% happy with on the DownBeats. I plan to try Alpine MusicSafe plugs at some point, just to see if they sound clearer, so I'll update my review with comparison to those as well.

Previously called "DownBeats", these are great!!
Not sure why they dropped the name "DownBeats", but I hunted for those and found that these are in fact the same as what I've been using for some time. I bough several more pairs for friends and family and gift them when taking them to shows where the band/stage production can be loud. You can still hear a conversation next to you without issue and these do not make the world sound muffled at all. Just takes away the pain from the super shrill sounds of speakers nearby or right in front of you if up front by the stage. Well worth the money to buy and keep a few pairs in your car!!

As you get older and your body starts giving out, you realise it's important to look after yourself. I bought these for a concert and was really, really impressed with how well they dampened the sound without sacrificing much of the quality. That concert was the first after many where I didn't spend the next morning with ringing ears and being slightly deafer than I was the day before. I know keep them in the handy little keychain holder in my backpack and have found myself using them in numerous loud environments.

I've been to three concerts since purchasing a couple pairs for my brother and I. The first one was an insanely loud EDM music festival that really put these puppies to the test. Upon inserting the plugs in my ears, I was amazed at how much more clear the music sounded in the arena. They pretty much eliminated the muddy bass and piercing highs that my naked ears had picked up on, making my experience much more enjoyable. Speech was also more discernible with the plugs in. We left after about 7 hours of body flailing and thumping bass, and neither me nor my brother had a sonic hangover. No tinnitus, no muted voices and sounds, no head ache. Just natural, unaffected hearing. Benefits: Portability -- The case is very small. Fits in my pocket without any problem. Performance -- I have no other plugs to compare them to, but they work great in my opinion. Comfort -- I routinely forget I have these things in when I'm studying, reading, or at shows. Comfy to tha max. Discreet -- The stems are practically non-existent and don't stand out at all. Very low key design (which is also a plus if you're at a show where mosh pits are prevalent, as the plugs are much less likely to get painfully lodged into you ears when people throw themselves at you) Overall, I could not be more pleased with the quality of these ear plugs. For the price, these things are fantastic. If you're trolling amazon right now looking for a solid pair of budget friendly ear plugs, do yourself and your hearing a favor and buy these babies.
