Fantastic!!
I normally don’t write reviews, but these shoes are amazing! I am a big fan of Merrill shoe, but I thought I would give these Solomon shoes a try. I am glad I did. The sizing, comfort, weight, support and cushioning are top notch. The only question left is durability and even if they only last one year this purchase will be worth every penny!

Update: poor build quality, no clarity on warranty. Great shoes, genuine product, value for money
Update after 6 months of use: The sole has stared separating from the upper after just 6 months of mild use. Did not expect such poor quality from Salomon. There is no warranty on these shoes in Amazon, so please use your discretion before buying. Review after 1 week The shoes look great and have excellent quality as expected from Salomon. The shoes were shipped in original packaging with all labels attached. The upper material is textile and full grain leather, not the lower-quality PU-coated leather. I have used the shoes for hiking short distances in tropical locations and they were comfortable with good grip on wet surfaces and provide very stable foothold and ankle support. There were no abrasive areas. Even in the hot weather, my feet did not feel hot or sweaty so the membrane seems to be breathable. The sole does not flex much, and the ankle area is fairly firm. Overall it provides good foot and ankle support without impacting ankle movement. The shoes require break-in. They are also snug around the toes so i suggest going for wide size shoes if your feet are wide. Overall very satisfied with the product, the seller, and the price. These shoes seem to be excellent value for money.

September elk hunt
Ordered these hiking shoes for my upcoming elk hunt in Colorado. Arrived quickly and nicely packaged. I typical wear a 14 in tennis shoes and 14 in boots. I took the risk and purchased size 14 Great looking hiking boot. Lined pretty well in the tongue to prevent water coming in. The size 14 fits well. I’ve yet to go on a hike and really test them out but from my experience with hiking boots, these are above par. For the sale price of less than 100, a great deal. Update- After a weekend of testing these boots out, I’m super happy with the purchase. Very comfortable and light weight boot. Ankle support is 5/10 but it’s much better than a regular tennis shoe and less than a bulky and heavy boot. The first trip was coyote hunting and it performed well. The second trip was fishing where I had a to get the boot submerged over a majority of the boot. Feet never got wet. 10/10. My feet do tend to sweat at times during warmer days. These boots must provide some airflow because it occurred less.

Comfy, fairly durable
Probably not fit for hardcore use, but my feet feel great even after working on my feet all day long, and using them for light hiking on the weekends as well. They don't last me any incredibly long time. After about a year they start wearing down a bit, but usually it's just the laces tearing and the sole losing some of its cushion. Overall pretty durable. As for weatherproofing and breathability, I wear them year round and they don't get TOO hot and sweaty on the summer, tho YMMV, and in the winter they're warm enough for casual New England hiking etc. Pretty good waterproofing, I walked through a flooded parking lot, maybe 3 inches of water, and came out just fine, even almost a year in on this pair. I think they might be discontinuing these so I'll grab a couple more and hope for the best in the future.

Wonderful.....for a two year boot!
Salomon are the most comfortable boots you can wear. I have worn them for 10 years and love them. I have noticed over the past few years that they wear out quicker than they should IMO. I use them a lot and in two years, they cracked at the sides where the ball of your foot flexes. In comes the water from the grass, rain. That said, I'm a fan and it's worth the cost.

Buyer beware, the current owners of Solomon make a poor quality boot.
My 2018 Solomon X ultra from Solomon were one of the best boots I have owned. Because of that positive experience, I replaced them with another pair of X-Ultra. Sadly, the quality of these new boots has gone down in a major way. As you can read in other reviews, once the Chinese company Anta took over Solomon they have destroyed the quality of these boots. The left and right boots don't fit well because they are not equal--the toe box is way smaller in the right boot (not miss sized as the soles are equal). This is poor QA of the assembly process. They have also cheapened other features; the tongue of the boot is smaller and of poor quality, the laces have way too much stretch, and they changed the lace mechanisms so that they don't stay tight. If there was ever a good reason to place a 50% or higher tariff on a foreign company like Anta this is it. We don't need another Chinese company selling poor quality products in the US. Buyer beware.

Nice and versatile boots for hiking but not for intense field work
(I am not a native speaker, please accept my apologies on writing this comment with inaccurate grammar) I bought this pair of boots last summer during a sale and this is my first Salomon boots. At the beginning, I was satisfied with its light weight and waterproof ability that support my fieldwork in Yosemite. I also like the shape of the sole which provide excellent traction on rocky surface and dirt road, it even works on slippery rock after rain. However, these boots seems worn out pretty quickly after 7 months of intense using (probably also due to my fault on maintaining my footwear). The waterproof ability is still there and it is still very comfortable to wear them when I am birding and hiking. In conclusion, if you are looking for boots that could withstand heavy bushwhacking and intense field work, I think there might be a more suitable choices for these purposes. These boots would be great if you are looking for some high quality trail hiking and backpacking boots. Pros - Relatively light weight compared to other hiking boots - Reliable waterproof ability (but need to ensure there is no seams/gaps on sole.) - Very comfortable to wear for long period of time, nice for weekend hiking, backpacking and birding. Cons - The lace is a bit too loose, cannot tighten these around your ankle properly. - The thick padded tongue keep pushing the lace apart which may cause the lace to loose during hiking. You could only use a double knot to keep it tightened. - Not the best for bushwhacking and heavy duty, worn out pretty quick.
