Can you use fabric softener in wash too?

The laundry ball will neutralize the softener. Use extra bounce in the dryer

Do you use two balls at a time for wash?

I use just one as I have small loads of only my laundry. My daughter uses two in her large capacity machine since she has 4 in her family. Both of us are very pleased with how clean, soft & fresh our laundry is.

How well does this work with high efficiency washers? We have a top loading high efficiency washer.

It works great...I have a front loader too and I've never had any problems at all.

How does this lock/unlock, open/close?

They don't open or close. I just set the whole ball into the sunlight outside to recharge them. I put all 2 balls in my washer since I always do the largest size loads. I only remove these from the washer to recharge them or on the rare instance I use laundry soap.
