I’ve always loved stationary, and when I opened my package and saw the sweet little box of 12 notecards, my heart absolutely melted. Start Where You Are Note Cards comes in a lovely keepsake box. And when it says keepsake, it means it. The paper box is heavy duty, and lifts straight off to reveal 12 notecards that exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t find any sample pictures of what the cards inside would look like, so I was nervous I’d made the wrong choice. I didn’t. Within seconds I knew at least three people I immediately want to send a card too. I briefly considered giving the set as a gift, but I’m too in love. Each card is on heavy cardstock. The cards are watercolor prints, each with an inspiring quote. They are blank on the inside so you can use the cards for whatever occasion you need. The artist, Meera Lee Patel, is self-taught and lives in New York. Her style is simple, which matches the whimsy of each card and her understanding of color is strong. Patel’s whimsical and feminine style is distinct on each card. What’s on the cards? A tiger, hearts, designs, watercolor bleads, flowers, the night sky, and my favorite – a ship at sea. If you’re looking for high quality cards with a touch of whimsy and inspiration, this box set won’t disappoint. I was very pleased with the quality, and interested in Patel’s other work which includes two journals and a book from Penguin Random House. Tucked away in a beautiful sturdy keepsake box houses 12 beautifully decorated cards and envelopes. Each of the twelve gorgeous illustrated card has a different quote illustrated by the self taught Brooklyn based Meera Lee Patel. The cards are perfect for any occasion and can be used as hostess gift or kept to be shared with others. I gave a few cards away and they were a hit and the others I am saving to be framed. My only qualm is a few cards were very simple but would be perfect for those who don't like overly intricate designs.

Crown Publishing has issued a beautifully boxed set of 12 note cards designed by Meera Lee Patel. They sent me a set to review. The cards are decorated with what I’m going to call watercolor illustrations. Of course I’m not entirely sure of the medium but the appearance is very much like watercolor. So that type of art is not as realistic as maybe oil or even pencil but it’s a pretty picture nonetheless. Each card also sports a quote from some famous person – some I’d never heard of I must admit. The box indicates only that they are “note cards” but the quotes all seem to be geared toward encouragement in a time of trouble. A couple of examples, “…Someday this pain will be useful…,” “Fears are paper tigers,” and “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” These are all fine thoughts, but they seem to really limit the use of the cards since they aren’t really the sort of messages you’d want to send when you’re just dropping a note to a friend or inquiring after someone’s health. I’m going to give this product only 3 stars based solely on the presentation. If they were presented as cards of encouragement or ‘notes for trying times’ they would definitely be a 5 star item.

These note cards are beautiful, very simple yet beautiful. There are 12 note cards with 12 envelopes. Each card has a different quote by people such as Amelia Earhart, C.S. Lewis, Harper Lee and others. Each quote is exquisitely illustrated on the front by Meera. These lovely cards come in a very sturdy box to keep them from being creased or ruined. The stock that they are made of is of high quality and your writing won't smear.The inside of the cards are blank so there is plenty of room to write. If you have a dear friend or family member that you want to send a special note to or just a word of encouragement then these cards are perfect. No two cards are alike. An extra bonus is that each envelope is decorated on the inside. Just lovely. I've had a lot of lovely note cards through the years, but these are above and beyond. I enjoy writing notes to family and friend, and these wonderful note cards make it so much fun. The front of these high quality note cards feature original art work and a saying from a popular author. Every one of the 12 unique cards is uplifting and encouraging. The envelopes are white on the outside and have a cute pink floral print on the inside. Mine arrived with 4 cards and 12 envelopes so in no way was it what is advertised

These note cards by Meera Lee Patel are very pretty, done in the popular watercolor style. Some of the quotes aren’t for universal uses though. “Courage, Dear Heart, ” and “Be patient and tough. Someday this pain will be useful to you,” were made for certain situations and while I’m sure they’ll be encouraging in the right circumstance, I don’t have an immediate use for them (thankfully). These cards are certainly on the feminine side, I’m not sure how many guys actually purchase note cards for personal use, but I wouldn’t select most of these cards for a male recipient either. The card stock they’re printed on is very sturdy, and the envelopes are nice and thick, too. All of the envelopes are plain white, some colorful artwork or even solid mixed colored envelopes would have been a nice touch but would probably drive up the cost.
