I borrowed this from the library and have been cooking a few of the copied recipes for many years- happy to find a copy of this book! It’s great for the variety of flavours using simple and inexpensive ingredients. My favorites are the Jamaican red bean soup and adzuki bean pancakes.

Surprisingly easy and unique recipes ... So good, I forgot they are meatless.
I bought this book years ago and it is one I still go to all year, especially in the autumn and winter months. It is straight forward, easy to read and follow. I miss having photos of the recipes but for some reason I don't feel like I need them to be inspired. Jay describes each recipe as if he was sitting next to you. He may tell a story of his mother with black-eyed peas or share his own experience to put forth the perfect combination of ingredients for corn bread. This is the perfect cookbook to give as a gift; whether for the novice or the someone looking to expand their repertoire.

Veggie Heaven
I have purchased this twice. My first copy got so worn out I had to replace it! This is by far one of my favorite vegetarian resources. As a vegan, the recipes are easily adaptable. Highly recommended!

The Versatile Bean
Soups, salads, entrees...a vegetarian's delight, and plenty here as variety from, or accompanying, meat dishes. Recipes from other cultures enhance the selection in this book. The author adds interesting and informative comments throughout.
