Does the job
Works great so far. I needed more sata port because a bunch on the board I'm using are dead. This picks up the slack quite nicely. I'm using it with truenas. No issues 💯

Check for legacy option ROMs in your motherboard.
If this is not showing up on your computer and the hard drives you plug into it don't show up, go into your bios settings and look under compatibility mode support or CSM, or option ROMs. Find a section for storage option ROMs and make sure legacy is enabled. My motherboard was set to UEFI only by default, and this card wasn't getting loaded at boot and therefore it was not showing up in Windows at all. Changing the storage option rom in bios to legacy fixed that.

After 6 months, UNRELIABLE
This controller might be OK for a gamer or casual user, but it's not reliable for real work. I've had the 8-port version of this card for 6 months, running under Windows Server OS. Even out of the box 2 of the ports did not work - anything plugged in there would not be recognized. I decided just to use the rest and not bother with a refund. Today another port stopped working: the SSD had been up and running for a week, new OS installed, then all of a sudden after reboot it entirely disappeared. I tried shutting down a few times, never came back. Thankfully the SSD was OK. I removed this controller and replaced it with a known brand that has never given me trouble. You get what you pay for.

Card worked, but required separate driver installation (on included DVD)
For: Actimed PCIe 8-Port SATA Controller Card. Card worked but not driver free. I required a DVD drive to install for Windows 11 (which is harder and harder to come by). It took a long time to load up when installed, only recognized a single drive. I opened up Device Manager and under IDE ATA/ATAPI controlers > Standard SATA AHCI Controller I updated the driver and had it look under the "Marvell 9215" folder on the included DVD (make sure to select the "include subfolders" box). Then it worked fine. For a full 5-star retailer should include directions for current supported operating systems.

It's good and includes everything you need.
Works. Includes everything you should need for shoving more drives into your PC. I used this for smashing together a rudimentary NAS from spare HDDs and an old case that were taking up space in my closet. Includes a driver CD, but I did not need it as the device worked right out of the box. Very pleased with this purchase, but be sure it is the correct PCI pin style for your device! This was my second purchase because I didn't check that my first choice fit my motherboard.

Expand your SATA ports.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I upgraded my old PC to increase the number of SATA ports. This worked great for that and continues to serve. Plugged in as simple as any PC component, was instantly recognized by the OS, and all I did was ensure I installed the latest drivers. Good price for the number of ports, and works as expected.

Una solución a pocas conexiones SATA. Funcionando en una vieja placa mini ATX que tenía 4 SATA. Compré la versión de 4 SATA y viene con los cables de datos y alimentación que funcionan perfectamente. Ojo, que la velocidad del bus PCIE se reparte entre los puertos SATA.

Easy, standard, does the job.
Very easy to set up - didn't even really need any thought. Seems to work just perfectly. If you need to run four (or fewer) more disks than your motherboard can support, this seems ideal.
