Unique black vintage background (+ an update)
I recently purchased the "parchment" looking background version of this vintage-style deck. It took me a couple of weeks to decide whether or not I liked it, but in the end it won me over. (I was a little unsure of the quality at first, due to the cards being thin and some peeling on one of the cards right out of the box.) This version with the black backgrounds looked striking, unlike any of the decks I have in my tarot collection. Since they were fairly reasonably priced (just under $20), I bought them. Some thoughts: -Like the other version, these cards are on the thinner side, but that allows them to be riffle-shuffled really well without bending in a permanent way. Something very satisfying about that "swooshing" sound as the cards blend together. The gold gilding on the sides is beautifully shiny, but will naturally wear away with use. I'm fine with that. -The glossy box is identical to the parchment version of the deck and they're both just called "Craft Cards," so nothing unique about them. However, the design on the backs of the cards is different on the dark and light versions. -The imagery is standard Rider-Waite-Smith, so if you're familiar with that format you'll have no trouble reading these cards. Or they're good for beginners and the basic little white book that comes with the deck will help you get started. -The main factor that makes this deck stand out is the dark/black backgrounds. It's really unique and adds a level of mystery and seriousness to your readings. There are also white streaks or "scratches" across the cards, in different positions. I believe some reviewers thought that was damage, but I feel it's an intentional design choice meant to add to the aged/vintage look of the cards, and I kind of like it! NOTE: Whenever I get a new deck, the first thing I do is look at each card individually to make sure they're all there, to inspect for any defects or damage, and to get a "first impressions" feel for the cards. With this deck, many of the cards were slightly out of order, located two or three positions behind where they should have been. And because of the gilding, they stick together a bit at first. In the end, all cards were present and no damage on this deck. * * UPDATE: I've had this black-background deck for several months now and I'm surprised to admit it has become one of my absolute favorite decks in my collection! I pick it up several times a day for quick one-card pulls in the morning or at night, and often find myself just shuffling it mindlessly while watching TV. It's one of the only decks I have that I riffle shuffle and that's because the cards are the perfect blend of thin enough to bend for that type of shuffling but thick enough to feel high-quality. I still really love the black backgrounds and distressed look. I've changed my rating to five stars!

This is a Beautiful vintage looking, rich, classical and dark RWS (Rider-Waite-Smith) tarot deck.
When I got my first Tarot Deck the artful indies were the exception. And I loved them. Always go with what speaks to you, right? Recently I started a new kind of project and I couldn't believe it but none of my decks were right. So I went looking for a new deck w/o knowing what I was looking for LOL! I looked everywhere. From Etsy to Google online. There are many beautiful decks out there! But I came to realize I didn't want a specialty deck at all. I wanted a deck that spoke only Tarot. No strong modern pretty close up fantasy faces to do the talking. I was surprised RWS decks began showing up in my "maybe" choices for the first time ever. Then I went on Amazon for something completely different than Tarot but Tarot is what I ended up with. When I saw this deck I knew I had found what I was looking for. When the deck arrived ( as it did quickly as it was Amazon) and I held it, it fit right. Not too big. Easy to shuffle. I had never bought a Craft card deck before either. This RWS deck looks vintage "ageless", rich being somewhat classical and dark with a coppery gold metalic trim on 4 sides. It is beautiful without being committed to any specific fantasy art character/personality. It is unfiltered Tarot. It comes with a booklet....if you have eyes like mine you will have to enlarge the print maybe copy on your printer ? No biggy. You can choose to get a Tarot book that describes each RWS card meaning or google each card meaning for free. Your choice. There is no stickiness once you open and shuffle the deck giving it air to breathe. If you are missing a card go thru and check each card and feather shuffle it . My guess its it will show up. The decks are vacuum packed at manufacturing. The cards are strong, smooth, pliable. Its the right deck for me this time around. If you are looking for a deck you might want to give this one a look. Hopefully you will know when you see it! Best of Luck on your card hunt!

I love this deck! It deserves a better BOX update on my video
I reviewed this deck on 9/20/22. In my video I showed cards. I pulled some. The first was the Tower. I commented on this card. I kept pulling cards to share but there was a message that for me that I refused to see. I was consumed by giving a good review. The cards will always tell you what you need to know. Rely on your intuition not your Ego. The Tower moment, the broken heart, king of Pentacles were telling me that my dad was in serious trouble. He passed away on 9/26/22. That High priestess card that I laid down but didn’t hold up was telling me to stop! I also pulled The Queen of Wands which always represents me. The message was there but I kept going. I did look back on this video before today because on that day when I pulled those cards, especially seeing The Tower and The Queen of Wands I did feel there was a message for me. It’s almost a year now that my Dad passed. I can’t stress enough that Tarot reading is not a game. A standard question I will ask “what do I need to know today” and I pay attention. I love reading especially for those who have lost loved ones. I’ve learned that I can channel those who have passed. I did channel my Dad through tarot and I can say I was told exactly what he told me when he was alive. I wouldn’t trade this gift for anything. Thank you for reading my message ♥️ I love these cards. They are glossy, hence a little glare in one of my photos. I like the glossy feel and appearance of this deck. The black background enriches the art work. There’s an antique feel to the artwork of this deck as well. The cards are sturdy and good size. I will only buy cards with a hinged lid or two part boxes. I’m glad I was drawn to this deck. I ordered a new box that this deck deserves. Don’t let the box stop your purchase. I’m glad I didn’t. Lastly, there is a little paper booklet included. If you’re a beginner I strongly recommend you find a Rider Waite book or reader that resonates with you as there are many different Interpretations out there. While the suites carry the same themes, the interpretation of each card will vary per reader and or creator of the decks you purchase. May you find much success on your reading journey. Much love, Marsha

Another great Indy deck.
This deck is quite beautiful, but may be best for experienced readers. The reason is the black background. If you’re new to tarot, it can easily throw you off. Good card stock, great price, standard size.

Beautiful!
Gorgeous!!! These cards seem like they are very durable. The foiling on the edges stick a bit to each other. Once shuffled a few times, they get easier to use. The print quality is very nice. Definitely a go to deck that seems like it will last a long time.

Great "Stepping-Stone" Tarot Deck for Beginners.
I think this is a great "stepping-stone" deck. I converted to this deck after using a Beginner's deck that had the meanings on them, and I enjoyed the dark aesthetic and the gold foil edges. I also do a 'waterfall'-shuffle method for my readings and this deck worked beautifully---not too slippery and never stuck. My only complaint is that if you're an avid tarot user (meaning multiple spreads happening frequently), the durability of this deck is not the greatest. I've had this deck for roughly one month, and already one corner of the gold foil edges are starting to fade. But yes, great value for when you feel like you're ready to take your "tarot training wheels" off! :) Then when you're comfortable, buy a fancy, great-quality thick deck.

Great for a gift
Purchased these as a gift for a friend and they are beautiful and well made. Nice sized with a good feel in your hands.

Cool, a little annoying
The cards are very thick and difficult to shuffle. They'll take some breaking in. Additionally, the cards being so thick makes the deck itself very cumbersome. It's also a heavy deck. The gold foil is holding up well after the man-handling required to shuffle them. The cards clump together which takes a lot to break up. They are beautiful though and I don't regret my purchase. They're just barely worth the money. Not for small hands. Pretty though.
