Worst Biology book ever, don't waste your money on this book
The book dimensions are:Length:27.6 cmBreadth: 21 cmThickness: 3.8 cmMass of the book: approx 2 kg1) The book is written in a completely disastrous way! Very disorganized, unattractive and looks tiring to both teachers and students. Seems as if the authors and editors were given a deadline and hence unable to give quality work. Students and teachers have to suffer in the end for wasting money on this book.2) Plenty of unnecessary information is given in the book thus wasting plenty of pages! Will teachers ever get time to preach trivial information or do they have to stick to the point?3) There are hardly any concept maps (or hierarchy maps) to make this vast portion look easier and well-organised.4) Information can be written in bulleted points but instead we have to underline the key points.5) Is this book really written for the 11th grade 16 year old students or is it for MSc/PhD students? Not age appropriate for a 16 year old to read the book not even for a teacher. Why is too much trivial information given in the book? Who has the time to read unnecessary information?6) According to Mayer's principles of instructional design, the text should be placed next to the images for clarity. But instead the text is away from the pictures and we need to waste time writing and organizing the text next to the pictures. The pictures are not enclosed in a box too.7) If introducing new key words, then it has to be explained. Don't expect students to rote-memorize like parrots without knowing what they are studying. If this is the case, then students are studying the wrong way. What's the use of boasting a 927 page book if it doesn't make use of hierarchy maps, colored pictures, bullet point list? There was a book named 'Steps in Biology' by Sheth publishers, very reasonably priced and to-the pint information. The book is written in simple lucid language with hierarchy maps and colored diagrams. I don't see that book available. I've also seen a free preview of Modern's ABC of Biology book in the Kindle app, I would recommend that as it is readable but still no colored diagrams. However, Std XI and XII of Nootan Chemistry book is written well.
