Liquitex BASICS Gloss Varnish, 250ml (8.4oz) Bottle

I paint with acrylic - I used to use oils until I realized how much easier acrylic were to use and clean up. Anyhow I had never protected one of my paintings before because I was scared to use this kind of thing. I bought this and decided to be brave and try it. It was a piece of cake. I painted a quick painting to sort of test this on it and it was excellent. I used a plain brush but I think moving forward I will use foam or some other way. On my test painting it was a little scary applying it because it's sort of opaque. But once you brush it, it clears up and disappears. It goes on very smoothly and dries very fast! This will give your painting a bit of a sheen to it - a little shiny. I then used this on another painting of a photograph I once took and this is where I say now I will use a foam brush or another way to apply it. While it went on fine, you can definitely see your brush strokes in it. I did straight horizontal strokes which were even and excellent but you can see it after the fact. I wasn't a fan of that but - it does look ok and protects it nicely. If anyone has an suggestions for how best to apply this to a painting please let me know!

Bought this because I wanted more volume for the price. I paint by hand, but it's fairly thin so it seems good for airbrush. It doesn't go on clear but that can be beneficial since it goes clear once you spread it thin. It can be annoying with a brush though since I get a lot of foamy white parts in creases,but it makes a great final coat for my resin prints

I couldn't be happier with this varnished. Before, I was using their spray to seal my acrylic paintings. It took a lot of spray and it smelled bad. This was so easy to apply. I used 2 coats for a nice glossy finish. It made the painting look as lustrous and shiny as when the paint was wet. There's plenty in the bottle to coat many paintings.

Liquitex Gloss Varnish works well and as intended. Can be applied with a brush or thinned and through an airbrush, however you may need more coats than by brush. Great price
