Long damascus knife. Rat tail tang. Does not look peened, probably epoxied. Mine was quickly shipped. Damascus pattern close to what is in the advert.Although packed well, it was packed sans oil. Thus rust on the bolster, pommel, and heel/spine of the blade. Took a bit with a file to clear up the rust. An attempt at an edge was made, mine was not very sharp. The wood in the handle was finished a bit funky. Light tooling marks. As is, this is a costume knife. If you want a knife that does not look like it came out of a mass produced factory, this is it.As is I will probably give it a new handle with brass mountings.

I did not expect a decent quality Damascus for anything under a few hundred dollars, but this is not what I expected, so it’s a full Gladius short sword, with that much metal at that large size for that price… ya get what you pay for. Still I didn’t expect it to be so big I wanted like a Dirk size knife that was full tang, this is a sword, not a knife so I guess that one good thing about it is that it’s big and cool. It is extremely sharp, I’ll give it that and the blade bends decent enough, the tang is long and skinny with round leather pieces stacked on top of each other smooshed between two flat round “Damascus “ plates that hold it together with the bottom plate screwing onto the tang till torqued tight enough to hold it together. Then the remaining end of the tang was filed down flat with the bottom plate, but when it gets loose you have to twist it tighter and it shrinks a little bit each time you torque it. The tang sticks out of the bottom plate. The sheath is ok, sturdy enough build but the loop is to long and hangs to much and it’s a thin piece of leather that won’t last if for some reason you actually wear this thing for any length of time. Overall it’s worth maybe 30$ if I had a say.

Blade looks to be well made. It was dull when I got it but holds an edge fair. But the handle is what throws it off.. round handles on swords only work well if they are slim. This handle is really fat and does not fit the hand well.

Got two of these. Beautiful Damascus pattern on both, and both are different. Both feel good in the hand…great balance. And, they will cut.
