Before they sold over 30 million records worldwide, saw six consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 and attracted untold millions of fans across 20 years of acclaimed live shows, the Dave Matthews Band were a one-of-a-kind group from Virginia looking to make a name for themselves in a music scene dominated by loud guitars and louder angst. Remember Two Things, their first official release on their own Bama Rags label, remains an important calling card for fans everywhere - and it's being released on vinyl for the first time. This high-spirited set found the band singer/guitarist Dave Matthews, drummer Carter Beauford, saxophonist LeRoi Moore, violinist Boyd Tinsley and bassist Stefan Lessard, with guest contributions by guitarist Tim Reynolds on four tracks unleashing easygoing but spirited original songs, recorded mostly live on stage (along with two additional studio recordings). The band's foot-stomping take on "Ants Marching," the soothing acoustics of "Satellite," and future concert staples like "Tripping Billies," "Recently" and "Seek Up" captured the energy and excitement of a band truly on the verge of major success. Remember Two Things, a bona-fide word-of-mouth sensation which earned the band a platinum record in 2002, remains the first and best introduction to the DMB sound. That sound would soon take the world by storm with the release of their major-label debut Under The Table And Dreaming in 1994, but for the band's most loyal fans, Remember Two Things is truly where the band's story begins. This 2LP 180-gram deluxe audiophile release, cut from new lacquers, prepared by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, features the original album packaged in an individually numbered gatefold jacket and featuring a new eight-page booklet with full lyrics and rare and unseen photos of the band. The set also includes a download card featuring the full album and two previously-unreleased early studio versions of "Pay For What You Get" and "Typical Situation," both newly mastered by original album engineer David Glasser.

Great condition--no booklet though
I'm excited to own this and listen to it for years to come. My first DMB vinyl record! And it shipped well. BUT...it's advertised as coming with an eight-page booklet....no booklet in my record :(Beware.

A great release that spotlights the DMB's early days.
I'm not a huge fan of the DMB's later work (read that "anything past 'Before These Crowded Streets'"), but I like listening to their older work. Having seen them a bunch of times in their first ten years as a band, Remember Two Things is a really great live disc to enjoy from when they were just starting out. DMB does well with their studio releases, but RTT captures them a little bit better. (I'd also argue that their Live at Red Rocks release works well as a next step in their live catalog, showcasing them after they'd gotten bigger and more popular and had moved to larger venues.).

Fills in for Neville nicely.
I used to be an avid Aaron Neville fan but that got to be redundant and a bit stale. After my pool cleaner recommended Dave Mathews I figured Iβd check it out, but was extremely skeptical that anyone would fill my love for Aaronβs voice. I ordered this vinyl and it was here in two days. I quickly ripped off the wrapper and threw it under the needle. Low and behold that nasally busted trumpet in a sack of sick cats swoon came oozing out of my stereo. I was shocked that anyone could fill my Neville sized void. Thanks Dave and thanks Marty(my pool cleaner).

Awesome record for awesome price
This is such a great record, the first from Dave Matthews Band so I knew I had to get it.The good:-Heavy, virgin vinyl. These records have great weight.-It sounds awesome. I'm a bit of an audiophile myself and it is flat, with no background noise-Spread out over two records so the sound is better-Anti-static sleevesThe bad:-Not a gate fold. Both records came in one jacket (which is wider, holds both of them fine). This is literally my only complaint. Other than that it is a great buy, especially for how cheap it is.

The album that started them all
I remember buying this CD back in the old days of slinging beer and hash in one of the fabulous ocean or sound-side restaurants if the OBX. Now that Iβm in a vinyl renaissance, is just seems apropos! Love you DMB! See you at Jazz Fest βπ½

Good early live DMB
I love this album, but if you really want some of Dave's best live performances (and you can afford the price tag) I recommend you check out Dave and Tim - Live at Luther College. As much as I love Remember Two Things, I find myself longing to listen to that one more.Pressing sounds good, no skips or pops

Beautiful pressing of a fantastic album
Beautiful pressing of a fantastic album. I've owned the CD for 20 years (at least) so I'm extremely familiar with the content. The vinyl is heavy and noise-free. My only complaint is that both records are in one jacket that is not gate-fold.

Great album. Lacking gatefold
Would get 5 stars if it were a gatefold cover. Great sounding/quality 180g vinyl.

While well worth owning it simply does not stand out above the regular high quality of any Dave Mathews Band release...
This disc slightly beats over the three star mark, it is your average DMB music which is to say that it is steaming good even in the bad parts. Dave Mathews Band is different from most other bands in that they are so proficient and so cool, and so well put together as a group that they have to be measured on a far different scale. Call it the Major Groovy Scale if you want because they are so very capable, and so subtle about how they present their talent. I think that is what I LOVE about them the most...The fact that they do not go about crushing you with the fact that they are so cool. They simply put their stuff out there, and leave it to you. This is as remarkable as any other of their discs which is to say that it is major COOL, but it is not so cool that it stands out any further than any other disc...It is well worth owning as any of the DMB disc most certainly is but it does not stand out above that Major Groovy mark...A worthy addition to any collection however...Spigomars
