So very real.
As a gay man, who grew up so close to his grandmother... Then went off to the big city with great dreams, then became a short lived tweaker.... No this book wasn't at all what I had expected. But when I wan't intensely reading, I was laughing, and when I wasn't laughing, I was crying. Thanks for sharing your stories.

Another side of a wicked world.
I expected a different "Tweaked" book, there's alot out there... Odd to say I loved it, it opened a different "scene" or side (if you will) of this nightmare drug & addiction. The basic story line runs through them all. This was about love, loss, giving, understanding, helplessness, paranoia (ya think?), & stepping up & out & looking back. If you don't enjoy diversity in your book collection & overall reading - this isn't one to add. Read it twice early on. Probably would be worthy of another read every now & then.

A great work
Humanity at its humblest. So many excerpts can be put in place for anyone who has experienced life. So glad I chose to read.

Fascinating in Ways I Didn't Expect
As someone who has heard a lot about crystal meth but who has no experience with it, I turned to this book to develop an understanding of why crystal meth has affected gay men and influenced HIV transmission as much as it has. I did learn a lot from this book, though I thought I would learn more about how crystal meth affects the body and mind, how it clouds and mind and encourages unsafe sex, and there was not as much of that in this book. Though there were many scenes showing the damaging effects of crystal, and Moore did not seem to hold back in any way describing the negatives of his life on crystal. This is a good book worth the time.

Well written, but not always on subject
I'm fascinated by books about addiction, and was excited to dive into this one. I was really interested in hearing all the stories about the authors friends, lovers, and people along the way who influenced his life, but at times the story feels a bit rambling and off-topic. I wanted more about the details of the authors own addiction issues. There were more multi-page descriptions of the male body and the gay club scene than there were details about the addiction, how it really started, and key turning points. There are a lot more addiction details about those around the author than the author himself. Interesting read but I lost focus after a while.

Different but awesome
The book was definitely very different BUT it had a great depiction of this man's life as a crystal meth addict and how he was to overcome it. Very happy with the seller as well because the book was in excellent condition and it got to me on time as promised.

THIS IS **NOT** AN ADDICTION MEMOIR
This author is talented, but much of the verbiage is used up describing landscapes, and graphic gay sex, and the gay lifestyle. This is more of a sexual memoir then an addiction memoir. The title is blatantly misleading. He goes on and on about the nature of his physical surroundings until it makes you wonder if he is just trying to pad his book with words. If you do not enjoy such lengthy descriptions, or reading about graphic gay sex, this book is not for you.

A poignant exploration of addiction
An interesting read into the rigours of addiction. Slightly repetitive in parts, however well written and captures the egocentric reality of addiction, alongside a menagerie of relatable characters.

Disappointed
I was hoping for some insight to have understanding of meth addiction. The protagonist was not very likeable. He was unkind to people without showing remorse. The story doesn’t flow nicely

Gross.
More like a Gay Memoir. Not a lot of talk about Crystal, more about men. Eww.
