Does this pressure rice cooker make a lot of noise while cooking? Is there a lot of hissing noise during the cooking process?

Only when pressure turns. It does make a fantastic rice,!!

Has anyone tried cooking 1/2 of brown rice in this cooker? or 1/2 cup of white rice?

Yes. The water ratio was a bit bard to get right. I use 1/2 cup of rice to 2/3 (plus a few tablespoons) of a cup. Because of the small amount, it’s much more sensitive to the amount of water. But it cooks a half cup of rice wonderfully. That’s the reason I bought it also!

We're a family of 4. Will this rice cooker size be enough or do I need to look into a bigger size?
