Porter cable is made by Stanley black and decker
I gave this a 5 star review because I know what I bought. This is a residential homeowner type tool and it also reflects that in the price. I bought the Porter cable pruning blades. Because that's the 1st job this saw was going to do. I have a 20 year old Austrian pine That is grown so large at the bottom it's into the sidewalk. It definitely needed a little trim. Should have taken a picture. To show the amount of worked This a little guy did. To trim a pine you just don't trim the ends of the branches to get him out of the way. You start at the bottom. And take out the branch right up against the trunk of the tree. I took out 3 rows of branches. And some of those were branches were 10 12' long. So I cut a lot of those in half ended up with about a 4' high pile of branches by the street. The battery ran out on the last branch I was gonna cut but fortunately I have 4 batteries. Went to the garage got a fresh battery put that battery on the charger. By the time I was done cleaning up the branches and doing a little trimming on another tree. When I brought the saw to the garage the 1st battery was charged up. These batteries really charge up fast and work quite well. Now for the plus I'm 74 years old. And not nearly as strong as I used to be I could use this saw over my head one handed worked great didn't beat me up I didn't get tired out. Basically I think I had a lot of fun. But the thing I really want to tell you is a good tool but it's not a contractor tool. If you buy Porter cable And you've got heavy duty remodeling projects to do or you're actually a contractor you're fooling yourself. If you want contractor grade tools you have to buy contractor type tools brands like Milwaukee the Dewalt. The sad part about this whole review is that I'm pretty sure that Porter cable is going to be phased out and Craftsman is going to take its place. If you check out Craftsman tools they look amazingly like Porter cable just a different color. My son bought me the impact driver for my birthday it came with 2 batteries. And I found the drill on clearance at lowes and it came with 2 batteries. So I decided I could buy these tools on Amazon for Right around $50 a piece so I got the grinder The reciprocating saw a circular saw and a jigsaw. Is about half the price of dewalt. They didn't come with batteries but like I say reflects it in the price.

Great things come in Small-ish packages
I'm no professional, but I have used a variety of different sawzalls including a dewalt 20v and the Milwaukee Super Sawzall, plug in model. Despite already owning (happily) 2 other PC tools, I was a bit hesitant about this purchase. Both the dewalt and the Mil saws are top of the line, and I had really excellent experiences using both; unfortunately, for the job at hand, I couldn't justify the prices of either. Dewalt tools are looking less and less appealing in general as really good lower price alternatives hit the market and Mil saws are awesome, but a sawzall is far from an every day tool for me... and thus not worth the premium. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the pc tool turns out to be. It's lightweight enough to one hand operate and vigorous enough to cut through just about anything without much hesitation. First outing out I used it to cut 30 or so branches ranging from 1-3 inches in diameter and it never skipped a beat or bogged down... and after 2-3 hours of continuous use, the battery (albeit the larger model), showed no signs of drain and no signs of overheat. The shorter cutting length means it doesn't cut as fast as some of the others and you can't turn the chuck like on the dewalt, so you lose some flexibility but it's all made up for with weight savings and managability. The design is admittedly a little adolescent; it looks like a transformer, but it actually turns out to be pretty thoughtful. Lots of no-mark rubber in most of the right places and even a little hole in the top for a sling in case you're in hard to reach places. If you don't need the hardcore build quality of the Mil or the versatility of the dewalt, this is definitely a great way to go.

Versatile Saw for Home Projects
This 20V reciprocating saw cuts through wood and metal smoothly on battery power. The tool-free blade change is quick, and it comes with a variable speed trigger for control. Lightweight but powerful enough for demo work - battery lasts through multiple cuts. Cordless freedom is a game-changer - handles branches and pipes well.

Good saw, but the blade lock broke
The saw worked great, but the blade lock broke after 4 years. It appears to be pot metal. This is m second identical saw.

My saw got here on time and more important, compared to my electric saw, its much lighter and smaller, between the two, it has good power, but i had bought a 5 mah battery which really helped, i had also bought a battery powered mini grinder, and between the two, im very pleased at the performance, but with anything battery powered , keep a second battery charged , and for me, i like the portable equipment, no dragging power cords around.
