Thundershirt Works!
I have an old border collie mix (now 13) named Ringo who recently became fearful of thunder after a really bad storm that damaged our house. (My 2 dogs and I hid in a closet, it was very scary) Since that time, Ringo actually tries to destroy things to try to "escape" the thunder. Ringo's behaviour upsets my other dog (Nina-Jet) because she reacts to Ringo's moods. I purchased the navy blue rugby Thundershirt and tried it on him for fit. It fits great and he was totally ok with wearing it. The next time we had thunderstorms coming, I put the Thundershirt on him. We have been having to kennel Ringo and the kennel is very heavy and hard to manage plus it takes up alot of space. This time, we put him in the kennel with his Thundershirt on. He did not pant and shake like he had previously, but just kind of sat very still and then dozed off. The 2nd time we had a storm, we put the Thundershirt on him but this time left him out of the kennel but put his leash on him and kept him nearby. He again became slightly nervous, but no pacing or panting. He kind of sat very still and stared (listening to the thunder). We would not allow him to try to leave our side; he laid down and went to sleep! About a week later, we had another spring rain with some thunder, and we put the Thundershirt on him and allow him to be off leash. He is totally ok with everything, although he does go in the closet to comfort himself and sleep, but he does this all the time it's his favorite quiet place. NO MORE KENNEL! NO MORE DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR! Thundershirt really does work. Give it 2 or 3 times and stay calm with your dog. Do not give your dog affection when they are afraid or being destructive. Tell them no and make them lay down and be still. When they behave well, then give affection at that time. (Ceasar does it this way).

Not as miraculous as the commercial, but it takes the edge off
My poor Corgi mix just huddles in the corner as far in the house as he can get during thunderstorms. He can't be consoled or distracted and won't rest until the weather calms down. I was hoping to avoid medication if possible. I didn't expect much from the Thundershirt, but I was pleasantly surprised. Once the shirt is on he'll come back into the living room and lay down with us. He's not completely relaxed and he'll still start if there is a loud clap of thunder, but his anxiety is greatly reduced. When I first put it on he gets a little wonky on his feet, but that doesn't last too long. The quality is nice and I didn't have a problem with any exposed Velcro. I think that depends on your dog's build. I would recommend measuring your do at the fullest part of the chest. I never would have thought a large would be necessary, but it's a great fit based on his measurements. So far only a few downsides. I do have to take it off to let him go pee, so it can go on and off several times a night. He will (very reluctantly) sleep in it, but isn't happy about it. It is a vast improvement over a sad dog cowering in the corner during a storm, so I don't' mind him having to "put up with it" a bit. It's not a cure-all, but it has helped him so much. Well worth the money to help calm his anxiety.

My boy is happy!
I have a 7 year old standard poodle who developed a fear of thunderstorms three years ago and we have tried Benadryl and Melatonin according to the veterinarian's instructions but they only worked so-so plus they were slower to affect him than the storm. It could be out of our area by the time he was calmer so that was not working well at all. We tried this shirt because it is drug free, fast and it just makes sense. By the way, this shirt is actually a true navy blue but it looks great and this was the best looking style in my opinion.Well, it worked and like a charm! He wasn't too sure about the coat the first time we tried it on because he normally doesn't wear dog coats. I got the "what is this?" skeptical kind of look. The first time we tried it happened to be around Independence Day and it worked for that, too. He has since connected the coat to storms but in a good way and he has stopped trembling out of fear and trying to make himself the tiniest speck in the universe hiding as far away from any window as he can, lol. He is now out with the family like on any non-stormy day and it is great! I have my boy back- yay! He is very comfortable and I do not worry about leaving the coat on him overnight since it breathes well. I do have to say that this particular style appeared to be a heavier fabric than the ordinary grey ones that you mostly see in the stores. Also, if you want it personalized the manufacturer will sell to you directly and usually gives you a coupon for free personalization (normally $10). I didn't bother because I wanted this particular Rugby style not the horizontal stripe or the grey. Anyway, all family members are very pleased and I no longer own a vibrating 4 poster bed during storms, lol.

AMAZINGLY GOOD - AND NOT JUST FOR MY OWN DOG!
I bought this product for my 10yr German Shepherd, Bracken.I'd only had her a couple of months when I ordered it, but i'd known and walked her from being a pup. She's a VERY anxious dog. Always had been. Terrified of strangers, traffic, storms, fireworks etc, and her previous owner had kept her away from scarey experiences as much as she was able. When her owner was sadly dying, I took her in (much to her owners joy), - rather than have her put to sleep as requested. ("No-ome would want a lovely dog as screwer up as she is")When it came to November, I discovered just what a traumatic panic a dog can fly into! I already knew I was in for a terrible time but i've had dogs all my life, as well as working with them for last 12 years, so I was prepared, with plug-in diffuser, covered crate (with constant access), and classical music for dogs playing continuously, quietly in the background. My other 2 old German Shepherds who'd been with me for years were slightly upset by Novembers fireworks but Bracken.... was a complete wreck! Nothing was working. She didn't even dare go into the garden to toilet. Then I heard about Thundershirts and ordered one immediately. It wasn't an instant transformation (I knew not to expect miracles) but by her 3rd day of wearing in the evening, I could see she was noticably calmer. I tried it on her on her evening walks when I knew we were likely to hear some bangs, and she barely responded to the distant ones! Very different from the week before. She was still upset in the house on a night when there were lots going off, but i'd put her shirt on and she'd go and hide quietly in her crate for the evening.I then went on to recommend it to some of my clients (i'm a professional dog walker). One for another firework phobic dog, and one for a stressed out dog who was suffering terrible seperation anxiety. Both dogs have been dramatically helped by the shirts.I haven't used Brackens shirt since Bonfire week, and she's a changed girl (also down to the training i've put in). She can now walk along busy roads, and will allow strangers to stroke her. The shirt is put away but I have no doubt it will be out again next November.I can highly recommend these and would strongly urge people to buy one if they have a dog with any anxiety problems

Thundershirt
Having read up on the Thundershirt and Tellington touch and looked at some pretty convincing videos on youtube I decided to try one. My rescue dog gets very stressed and does not settle we when go out and leave her. Having video'd her several times prior to using the shirt, we video'd her several times while wearing the shirt. The first time of use I noticed she seemed to settle for a little longer time than normal but on subsequent times I could see no real difference in her at all. Out on walks the shirt seemed to make no difference whatsoever. I was not hoping for miracles just that she might be a little calmer around other dogs and when left on her own. I am extremely disappointed. The only good thing I can say is that it makes a cosy coat, especially in this cold weather. I wouldn't let my experience put you off trying though, it may work for your dog.

I've tried this on two of my dogs, and ...
I've tried this on two of my dogs, and it didn't help with their anxiety at all. It's HUGELY overpriced for what it is - if you want to see whether it will help your dog I'd just buy a normal dog coat (or cut up one of your old t-shirts) and sew some extra velcro into it so you can do it up snugly. That's all this product it.

Thundershirt and what my dog thought...........
Ok well there has been a lot of hype surrounding these shirts and how effective they are........First off I will start by saying it is very important you are sure of the correct size for your dog as I had to buy 2 in the end. Second and most importantly do these work?..........Sadly for me no my dog suffers with seperation anxiety and there was no real noticable difference also my dog being a rather large and long mastiff can actually reach around and pull this off him quite easily as it is only held on by velcro so that kind of defeats the whole point. With all things considered and the price of these shirts I CANNOT recommend these shirts sorry.
