We call her Sandy the Pirate Ship!
I found this project easy to assemble with my 10 yr old niece. It’s slides easily to close and cover the sand box. The only thing I was not completely happy about was the “chalkboard”. I thought it was an actual chalkboard but it’s just three black boards. You can use the boards and erase with a wet rag but the boards are small. A single board without the spaces would really improve the overall chalkboard. We did customize ours with paint as we live in OK and the sun breaks down everything outside faster than normal.

Quality sandbox with minor modification needed
Overall, very nice end result, a few minor modifications were added like the front box where the bucket is I added a hinge that should’ve been included. It also didn’t come with a stain or a finished wood that had to be done, and I also added a burn treatment for personal taste, but overall nice product. I would’ve thought it would’ve came more assembled than just a pile of wood, but instructions were pretty straightforward for the most part.

Awesome product - assembly is lengthy
Ok it’s worth the build but be prepared, it’s a lot of work to put this ship together. So worth it and so cute

Fell Apart Fast
We bought this Pirate Ship for our preschool at the end of September, 2022. Finally on Feb 17, 2023 school had a work day and I had my staff use an outdoor wood stain on the boards as many reviews said to do that before building it to extend its life. I built it the next day and was excited to put it on our playground for our 2-6 year olds to enjoy. It took me about 3 hours for this tiny ship. The instructions were not clear, and as someone who has built hundreds of things for home and our school I am great at following directions. For this you must have exact measurements like an eighth an inch gap between boards etc but there are no predrilled holes for where they sit. So I had to redo many steps to be sure it was done right. It held up well for about a week. Then a black cross board was broken off by a 2 year old. Then a floor board then another. The flag broke off as well. So now it is sitting shipwrecked off the playground so that no children can be hurt by it. Maybe it is my bad for buying an Amazon wooden toy for many kids to play with all day?

Good, but needs some additional work
If you are comfortable with some additional steps and basic assembly I think this is a pretty good setup. We decided to put a deck stainer on to make it last much longer. It comes as untreated wood which will warp and splinter in a year. So spent about $40 and 4 extra hours treating the wood. Assembly is easy except there are no predrilled holes on the posts. So you need to be careful when measuring to make sure everything is flush. Some of the wood boards and the bucket came cracked. I'll glue them later, but am curious to see how long they last. The chalkboards are bad. Feels like charred wood. Doubt it'll even let you write on them. Overall, it's alright for cheap outside equipment.

Cute!
Only took about an hour and a half to put together and that includes stopping twice to feed a newborn. I did sand and paint the wood using total boat wood primer and then varnish which took atleast 10 hours so hopefully the wood holds up in the sun!
