I wanted to clear up some confusion regarding negative reviews claiming this matcha contains "heavy metals" because the powder stands on end or reacts to plastic spoons. First, the science: Toxic heavy metals aren't magnetic: The actual toxic contaminants people worry about in food safety—like lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury—are completely non-magnetic. They will never react to magnets or cause dry powder to form spikes. It's static electricity: Matcha is ground extremely fine. When I first opened the bag, I used a plastic spoon and tested the powder directly with a powerful neodymium earth magnet—nothing was raised, pulled, or forming spikes like in some of those customer photos and videos. However, after pouring the powder through a plastic funnel and using plastic and wooden chopsticks to portion it out, the friction generated a static charge. The ultra-light matcha particles simply aligned with the electrostatic field, creating those needle-like "spikes." It was only after generating that charge that the spike effect happened. If you use a metal spoon or touch the scoop with a grounded finger, the static charge disappears immediately. As for the product itself: For the price, this 2 lb bag is an absolute steal. The batch I received arrived bright green with no brownish or oxidized tint to it. Since it is culinary grade, it has a punchy, earthy flavor, but it works fantastically well for daily protein lattes, smoothies, and homemade matcha ice cream without breaking the bank. I split mine into vacuum-sealed portions for long-term storage to preserve freshness. Highly recommended if you understand what culinary matcha is meant for!

I use this in smoothies and it is terrific. Needs a tiny bit of sweetener to make it palatable but for the price, amazing.

If you're making Macha lattes or mixing the match with anything, this is perfect! No need to buy the expensive ceremonial level stuff unless you're drinking ONLY Macha. This is honestly perfect for everything. Mix 2 of its provided spoonfuls with 1/2 cup of kettle hot water and stir, maybe even add more matcha until a bit thick, pour over a glass full of ice (should fill half the glass if full of ice) as the last half as milk with a pump of your favorite syrup. Mine is strawberry, my gf's is Vanilla. Peppermint was not good, though fyi.

Tastes great, mixes fairly well, great value for cost

I bought this as an experiment, and went for the big bag, thinking that I'll use it for baking if I don't like it. I just finished a small pack of ceremonial matcha that cost me a little fortune, so I had some reference. This one is different, for sure, but I cannot say it's not as good. It does not have the same astringency as the ceremonial one, but I like it better (I drink it plain, with ice). It has a somewhat sweet taste, probably because it comes from first harvest tea leaves. In powder form the color is not as vibrant green as the ceremonial one, but after mixing I don't see any difference (it seems to foam a little more than the ceremonial one, using same frother and water/powder quantities). I'll stick with it for sure, you cannot beat that price, but same as with coffee/wine/Bourbon, there's the daily one and the... ceremonial :-) one. This is a good daily one. For the ceremonial one I would probably go for a Hojicha--different game altogether.

This matcha powder has been great for lattes. I don’t know much about drinking plain matcha, but I mix a scoop with a splash of warm water using a hand frother and then add ice and milk and it’s great. Just as good as what I’d pay $9 for at a coffee shop. It definitely may be “less green” than what I’d get out and about, but other than that, there’s no noticeable difference to me. I’ve been putting off making matcha at home because I always thought id have to buy the expensive ceremonial grade and I’m so glad I’ve found this. Everything I have used from this brand has been awesome!

I contacted the manufacturer because other reviews here stated that the product was possibly tainted with lead, as can happen with Matcha leaves. i got a quick response stating, "many of our products are tested for lead and other heavy metals". I didn't like the wording of their response so i responded by asking in their Matcha Green Tea was tested, specifically. They never responded, so i gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe their return emails are "do not respond", so i sent a new email asking the same question. No reply. tried a 3rd time. no reply. They ghosted me, so i'll take it they DON'T test this specific product for lead. Given i was left with a queasy feeling in my stomach after drinking the tea 3 or 4 times, which is what prompted me to dig into the negative reviews and people's lead suspicions, i threw this expensive product in the trash. i've tolerated other Match teas just fine btw. Questionable product, poor customer service. AVOID.

After reading how good Matcha is for you, I asked persons I trusted about the flavor. I almost bought a brand that was mostly green tea & very little matcha, which I did not buy. I have no problem with the taste & it releases the caffeine very slowly but does not cause jitters or keep me from sleeping.
