Are the lights white or yellow? The last picture looks like it's gold instead of true red and white

The plastic pieces (shaped like candy!) are clear and red. The provided bulb is a warm white (yellowish) incandescent. We upgraded to an LED bulb, and it shines clear, bright white and red. Hope that helps you. We love this tree SO much.

Is this tree in 2 pieces---top and a separate base? Could a 15 W bulb be used in place of a 7W?

I would be cautious of overheating the unit using a 15W bulb, especially since it isn't ventilated. You could melt the plastic elements, or worse, start a fire. Check the wattage limits on the package. I would go with a LED bulb at 7W rather than incandescent. It will be much brighter for the same wattage and keep things safe.

Is the base removable so that you can change the bulb inside when it goes out?

No there is a hole and bump out on the bottom to change the bulb. This is just beautiful. So glad I chose it.

Do the bulbs come in and out?

The bulbs on the tree do not come off the only thing that comes off is the star on top....they send you two stars
