Having shoulder surgery. money well spent
love this sling. it beats the heck out of the hospital sling they sent me home with. the picture shows strap across the mid section. i prefer the velcro to be on the front side as it makes it easier for you to put on and take off the sling. h one arm reaching behind you is not easy. it helps with sleeping, the shoulder cant drop and the straps are crossed in the back and having 2 staps distribute the weight so you dont feel like it is cutting into my shoulder. The material is soft and not scratchie, and if you are by youself the straps are long enough to be albe to put it on by yourself, strecommend you have someone help you. i still like to use a small pillow on the couch as it helps to support weight of your shoulders. and you are comfotabel,

Great alternative to what they give you at the hospital
I am two weeks out from rotator cuff surgery, with four weeks left in a sling and like many I was pretty sick of the hospital issued sling after a few days. It was especially uncomfortable to relax or sleep in so I looked for a better option and this sling is it. Pros: SUPER comfortable - it's night and day how much nicer this is to relax and sleep in. VERY stabilizing - my arm feels MUCH more secure and the design of this sling allows you to really tighten it down comfortably to be very secure. Distributes weight better - I have been walking 3-4 miles a day this week and the traditional sling that just goes over one shoulder gets really uncomfortable because my one shoulder bears all the weight of the sling and my arm while I'm walking around. With this sling with straps over both arms, the weight is distributed better. If you want to get back to being active quickly, this sling will really help. Easy enough to get on and adjust alone - it took a couple of tries, but I can pretty easily get this on and off by myself if I need to. VERY easy to ajust. CONS: Front pouch positioning - the only real con for me is that the pouch and strap piece that goes on first is designed to hold your arm very centered in front of your body, as opposed to a traditional sling that allows your arm to me more at your side. This sling doesn't really adjust enough to allow your arm at your side, which is a little problematic when I'm working. I've been able to go back to work at a desk job and for working at a computer, I use my normal sling so I can have my arm at an angle that allows me to type. This con is really a small price to pay for the overall comfort and relief I have gotten. All in all, this is a great purchase, especially if you need to sleep in your sling or you want to be more active.

Great product!
Very comfortable, and adjusts well for both daytime and sleeping. I just wish it was machine washable and could be tumble-dried.

Nice for comfort but really check the size you buy.
The theory of this sling is just what I wanted. The problem is that the fabric is so soft{which was more comfortable) but, it was hard to get it to stay on. Maybe I needed a smaller size but I had had my surgery and wasn't able to return it. Good point is the double strap so not as much pull on my neck. The wide wrap strap was helpful keeping my arm from rotating outward. The strap definitely helped me keep ice packs on my shoulder.

Confining my shoulder
ANOTHER UPDATE: Just wanted to add one more thing. I've been using this now for a month so I'll let you know that this thing stretches out a lot. You'll have to read adjust it constantly. Annoying, but still helps, just is really a pain mow.that it's all stretched out. EMS OF NEW UPDATE: UPDATE: I am still benefitly greatly with this brace. I'm going to add one thing...DONT SLEEP WITH IT ON. I thought it would help, one day it felt so good I didn't put it on during the day. Big Mistate. Wrap around piece was up around my neck. The rest just twisted. END OF UPDATE..I'm currently recovering from knee replacement surgery and in the interim tore my rotator cuff. My shoulder needs a replacement, but I can't have that done until I'm released from knee PT. This brace is a lifesaver. Since I have a complete tear in my shoulder with a couple other ones along with a cyst, your arm dangling free makes the pain horrible by the end of the day. This sling / brace keeps your arm against your body and it also takes the pressure off the hanging of your arm. My size is a medium I'm 5'2 and about 185 lb.. I first ordered the large since I'm not exactly a small person... I don't know if it was mark wrong or not, but that thing was huge, and I mean huge. The medium is perfect. It's exactly what I needed. I'm looking at wearing it for at least another month or so before I get a full shoulder replacement. I recommend this highly. Regular slings don't do anything as far as stopping the hanging pressure of the shoulder and I love the free piece that goes around you, it can tighten and hold everything in place. Some people say they can't get it on by themselves, but after practicing a little bit I managed to figure out how to do it alone. Tricky little thing but practice makes perfect. Recommend.

Why do they even still make those old around the neck slings?
Fifty-six years ago, I broke my wrist and was put cast and given a sling that went around my neck. It killed my neck and gave me a headache. Recently, I had surgery on my other wrist and sling they provided me was identical to the one from 56 years ago. Right down to the color. The only change was that the new one had velcro fasteners. But it still caused the same problem, neck pain and headache. So I bought the Velpeau arm Sling. It has 2 straps the go over your shoulders, relieving the stress on your neck, then the straps cross behind your back, loop around your chest and velcro to the sling in front. Comfortable and pain free. I think most people can put it on by themselves, I can. It can be used for left or right arms, it has a band to immobilize your shoulder if you need that. I didn't use it. It is cool and lightweight. A huge improvement over the "standard" issue sling. Why do they still make those? More importantly, why do hospitals etc., still use them. A much better alternative is only a few dollars more. It's more then worth it for improved patient comfort and less stress and strain.

I bought this sling to support a broken collarbone, and it’s far more comfortable than the basic sling I was given at the hospital. The material is soft and supportive, and the cross-strap design distributes the weight evenly, which has eliminated the strain I was feeling in my trapezius muscle. The chest strap does an excellent job of keeping the shoulder immobile, providing noticeable pain relief. I also really appreciate the built-in pocket—it’s perfect for holding my phone or doctor’s notes. Overall, this sling has made a big difference in comfort and support. I would absolutely give it five stars.

This sling is good support but had to return it because large was too loose and then ordered medium so will suggest when you order you go one size down or take measurements before ordering we did but that didn't work so try one size down but I appreciate that seller allows return so thank you

I am a 72 year old woman and I have a rotator cuff that is wearing out. I have tried many supports/slings/braces attempting to find something that will help give me some relief from the pain, without success. I had great hope that this immobilizer would aid me in sleeping in a position that did not allow me to raise the arm on the side of the damaged rotator cuff. No such luck. The biggest issue with all of these supports/braces/slings is the design. They are designed for a man's physiology not a woman's. The manufacturers do not seem to know that men and women are built different. In the case of this immobilizer, the straps do not stay in place probably due to the fact they go straight up the center of my breasts, the sling slides forward and rides up to under my chin, no matter how tight I close the straps and the surrounding band. Part way into my sleep I wake up frustrated with it, and take it off. The concept is good but the design is poor

We receive this and it was used! It stinks. The outside box stickers are torn. The inside item label stickers are on the inside of the box instead of on the item. We have previously ordered a larger one, and needed a smaller one. So orders this medium. VERY disappointed and frustrated as we needed this and now need to find a replacement.
