HERCULINER Grey 6 Foot Truck Bed Roll on Bedliner Kit

MT 16 ft Random Axle trailer looks brand new! Look at the before & after pics! Received this roll-on liner exactly as ordered and right on time. No knock-off product or out of date here! We removed all rust mechanically, roughed up all other paint then just rolled on the liner. Black liner to the frame and gray to the wood floor. Makes it look brand new without the high price of a body shop paint job and this is much more durable than paint. Makes the trailer look brand new and I anticipate it will look that way for a long long time!

I used the Gray Herculiner Bedliner to coat the floor of a 2 seater Dodge Dart where we had replaced rusted floor panels. I have nothing to compare this with for this is our first experience with this type of product. I was initially concerned about using a "1 Part" kit, meaning no hardener, but overall, I was very impressed with the kit. Mix it throughly with a drill and pour into smaller container to apply. Keep the Gallon sealed or it will get too thick. Drill mix the gallon each time you need more. You have to apply this as quickly as possible and it's much easier if you have a helping hand. It doesn't take long for it to get thick and it's not as friendly when it's thick. We poured some directly on the floor and spread it out with rollers and paint brushes. You can't use paint strokes, you have to "pat it" with the brush to get the right texture. You need to keep the rollers clean during application or they will get a build up of rubber pieces and the texture will not look good. I used a paint paddle to scrape them off every now and then. The first coat went on thin and we were slightly concerned if a gallon was enough, but the second coat took less material and really made it come to life. We even had enough for a 3rd coat but it looked really good so we left well enough alone. Well worth the money! I was thinking about giving it a try on deck stairs but I'm not sure about the treated lumber and it's tendacy to crack as it dries out.

Update... 8-15-20, I needed to seal up cracks that opened up over time. All in all, it does it’s job. The grey formula is a pain though. I opened the can and mixed it throughly with a paint stick to get grit material on bottom mixed in. It bubbles like a witches stew, Put some down and let it dry for a few days. Went to recoat and the can popped open while sitting in garage and it cured in the can over the days it was sitting there. The top surface skinned over and set making like a latex glove kind of surface. I lost a bit of product. Kinda made me mad because I hammered the top lid closed to stop that and it did it anyway. I used the last of it after a good mixing and it’s down now. I have used both grey and black products. Don’t know what is up with the grey formula. Black on exposed concrete is just not desirable. This stuff is expensive at $150 per gallon / kit. ......I used this to seal water out of my house. It really is an amazing product but it also does bubble up and leaves little gaps in the sealing surface. I used this product in black on my truck bed and it's a different product the gray. It even bubbled what while I was mixing it in the can today. I used gray to seal up my house and I found after three full kits ($140 each) that the third coat is a lighter gray so it doesn't completely color match. I have to stop because I'm done, I sealed it and this is getting expensive even though the color doesn't match I have to move forward with my life. Other people have talked about the bubbles I did experience it with the gray and it really sucks but overall it is waterproof at the very least it restricts the amount of water that comes in in my basement. This was used for concrete. The bubbles make me wonder if it could let water in. We did have a good rain after the first coats. NOT A DROP made it into my home. Compare that to the $3000 estimates I got from foundation repair specialists. Add in my labor... well worth doing.

It is, in fact, gray. Which was exactly what I wanted for the roof of my van. And at first it is difficult to stir so use some sort of sturdy wood in stirrer or a metal thing. After you loosen it up, you could use a drill stirrer. But it will break a plastic drill stirrer if you start with that. Once it is stirred up also make sure you have removed the stuff on the inside of the cans *sides*. Some sticks there. Once you are sure it is completely stirred it goes on nice and smooth. It comes off glass pretty good once it dries completely. Don't smear it on paint you do better to wait till it dries if you can get a glob on the paint. Interestingly, it seems to expand once it's down as it dries. So if you think you're going to have a super thin layer, think again. Put it on as thick as you dare, and it will double in thickness. It gives great traction and looks great. I did the top of my van. I am very excited about it. Hence, the title of my review: I thought it was great until I realized it was fantastic. A+, recommend.

I bought 3 kits for my 7x16 enclosed trailer. This turned out fantastic. I love the rubbery feel under my feet. Had enough to do the floor and tailgate 3 times. Each kit was enough for 1 coat on the floor and tailgate or about 150 sq ft. Definitely recommend at least 2 kits for a job like this as the 1st coat does absorb into the wood a little. With each additional coat the floor got better and better. No more than 3 coats needed and it looks seamless as I rolled the Herculiner on. Take your time and roll slowly. Each time I dipped the roller into the paint pan, it covered about 2 sq ft before needing to dip again.

Stripped all loose paint inside aluminum boat. Roughed up surface and applied product. Looked great!!!!!!! Problem was it isn't in the slightest way a good adhering product. I realize aluminum is a unique animal but anywhere it even got spilled on, it just peeled right off no matter what the substrate was ( wood, concrete). It bonds great to itself, but when you pull it off it has a shinny glass like finish on the back that I cant imagine sticking to anything. Had to strip entire boat and starting from scratch.

Make sure you have xylene for clean-up. This is a durable oil based product. Good adhesion, I used it on wood, aluminum, and plastic. Easy to roll on and has a fairly lengthy working time. I had to re-roll the surfaces after 15 minutes to ensure a consistent finish. Not much bleed through on the painters tape, so I have pretty clean edges. I used a power drill with a paint mixer to keep the rubber granules from settling. Mat require two coats to cover consistently. Nice results!

Used on a 20 year old truck bed that had some dents and scratches and paint flaking off half of it, looks 1000% better, it definitely covers a lot of sins. I would actually recommend getting from a retail box store if you can find it, as some leaked out during shipping and had actually set so I had to cut that away from the can, and cut the instructions out of it, but comments here provided enough guidance that I wasn't too concerned on losing those. #1, apply outside in WELL ventilated area, even doing this outside it was pretty potent, and even a couple of days later my wife commented, "glad that's outside", this is some powerful stuff, treat it with respect. Also ape things off good, wear gloves, have acetone available to wash it off. Scrubber it came with was fine, I got some Xylene/Xylol as recommended for splashing some on the pan between pan refills, glad it didn't cost much as I probably used 1/4 cup of Xylol for the entire process. I used a disposable pan, used a drill attachment stirrer and stirred between pan refills too, be sure to get down to the bottom of the can where the rubber bits settle to. I actually got a different roller but the rollers it came with I found to work better, I did get a cheapo brush too for dabbing into the corners. 1 Can was plenty for 2 full coats on my 6' Ford Ranger bed and tailgate, with even some to spare so I could go over some trouble spots and be sure they were coated plenty good. Hot and muggy in NC so 1st coat set well within 4 hours, your mileage may vary.
