UPDATE: I loved it... until it died. But it was replaced.
I find it difficult to give the Starfrit Multi-pot "The Rock" the correct number of stars. Based on the "pros" it deserves 5 stars but based on the "cons" it only deserves one star, so I compromised and gave it 3 stars.SUMMARY: I purchased The Rock last August because I had a kitchen fire and needed a very versatile pot to meet all of my cooking needs for a few weeks until I got a new stove (yes, a tall order). It also had to be non-stick and easy to clean. This pot was perfect... until it died 7 months later. But the company did replace it quickly. So how many stars is that?PROS: The Rock met all my needs. You can saute, deep fry, and boil. I could fry eggs for breakfast in the same pot that I used to cook spaghetti for dinner. And it was big enough to cook up a batch of soup. So, between it and a microwave (which survived the fire), I could feed my family. It also is very non-stick and easy to clean. It is relatively light, so I could pick it up to drain the spaghetti (for example) or wash it with no difficulty. I loved this pot and even after my stove was replaced, I kept The Rock on my kitchen counter and used it all the time.CONS: Thermoregulator control is set too wide. The heating element gets very hot then it turns off to cool down, then it gets very hot again. When you choose a higher temperature, the element just stays on longer before it turns off-- that's the only difference. The pot is still either very hot or very cold... there is no way to set it to stay at a gentle simmer and you do have to keep stirring the food to get it cooked evenly. The biggest con, however, is the same complaint several other reviewers have expressed. The pot died after seven months. In my case, I was using it to cook dinner and it went "b-z-z-z" and died right before my eyes. No heat ever again. I did have my Amazon purchase receipt. Although the seller (Atlanta Products in Canada) never answered their phone, they did respond to my emails. They asked me to send a photo of the dead pot and they sent a replacement within a week or so. That's great, but the question remains as to how long this replacement pot will live.SUMMARY: A great kitchen appliance, but it has some serious design flaws. Keep your purchase receipt handy.UPDATE FEBRUARY 2020: I have had my replacement Rock for 10 months. I use it all the time and it's working great. No problems. My cat managed to break the glass lid (clumsy cat!) but I was able to order a replacement lid online with no trouble. I will say that this appears to be a small company with only one or two customer service people so it really helps if you can contact them directly via phone or email. Once you establish communication, they are prompt and helpful. I increased my rating from 3 stars to 4 because of their good customer service. Unfortunately, I can't award 5 stars because too many units are still going bad.

one of the best cookware items in my kitchen
I use this for everything from stir-frying to oil frying. This pot is ideal for all sorts of meal preparations. It is super easy to clean. I like it so well, I just ordered a new plug for an older pot when the plug quit working. You won't be disappointed with this pot.

Good but just missing out on great
I am adding comments to my original review and I only giving it 3 stars now after using it for a while pros it's the perfect Shape and is a good size pot cons the electric bass it would be better suited if you could remove the tough from the base for cleaning it would also be better if the temperature Gauge was more precise if you like cooking on an induction stove top this comes in well below Back if you don't mind it running a little hotter than it's a good cooking instrument it also doesn't keep consistent temperature

For my purposes, I wanted to minimize my appliances since I live in a small place. I also wanted something that could replace pots, pans, wok, rice cooker, etc. Of course, something that was non-stick also, since who needs the hassle. Lastly, something that was independent of needing a stove to use is a must for me.Overall, something to simplify my life.Having used this a few times I would recommend it for these purposes. I've cooked eggs, stir fry, rice, meats and it works very well for these. On the plus side:. Non-stick is very good - just hope it will last, although no reason to think it won't. Silicone utensils are best.. Certainly versatile. Looking forward to many more uses.. Very quick to heat up and reasonably good at keeping at temperature.. It's certainly big enough for any of my purposes. On the con side:. I find any of these appliances that you can't take the pot from the heating element, in order to clean, a pain. I know they can be made to take the pot, griddle, etc. off to clean, since I have one and it's fantastic to clean. That being said, the non-stick to clean is very good.So overall, a good appliance to have on hand. The only alternative I would look into is a one-pot, although I know they would be more expensive.Hope this helps...

Better than expected
Wasn't sure if this was going to suit my needs for a wok.Happy to say it far exceeded my expectations. Have used it a few times already with perfect results. It heats up super fast and make sure to dial down the temperature. This thing gets hot and does so very quickly.Cleaning is a breeze as with all "the rock" coated pans I have. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Wonderful for soups, hard to simmer however.
I've made soups in this with the best results. Start with, cut up chicken pieces (if you're so inclined), brown them off and remove. Add veggies, and saute. Put meat back in with stock and seasonings and cook till veggies are tender. Fantastic results! The down side is it's unable to do a good simmer. By turning the temperature down the unit cycles on and off, when on it runs at full power, which is too aggressive a boil for some delicate ingredients. Does clean up very easily. I have other "The Rock" coated pieces (fry pan and panini press) The fry pan is stainless/The Rock which is induction ready (yay!). The panini press won't close flat on anything over a couple of inches however.

Get this!!!
I love my wok so much, I bought two more for gifts! I just love it. So veritile. Don't hesitate to buy it! I started to make chocolate truffles on Christmas morning and didn't realize that I put the heavy cream in the freezer! So it was frozen solid! But... I put the cream and the chocolate together on the warm feature and got a perfect ganache to make my truffles! I had to watch it of course. But clean up was a breeze and the truffles came out great!I would also highly recommend it to those with limited kitchen space, or dorm rooms. It's so handy. I barely use a stove anymore. It's just a pleasure to use!

How did I ever manage without it?
The media could not be loaded. This Multipot is a real gem. I can sauté, steam, stir fry, deep fry, boil, braise and make eggs and bacon in the morning.I use it to make soup, rice, polenta, spaghetti sauce and cook pasta. I've also used it for making chutney and zucchini relish. And clean up is so easy since nothing sticks. It's large enough to make a nice meal for a small family, but I can see it being very convenient for a single person. It heats up super quick. There is little or no splatter when frying because of the deep bowl and high sides. It has good heat retention so cooking oil maintains set temperature when deep frying, making the job fast and easy and providing great tasting results. (See my video deep frying breaded zucchini steaks.)It has earned a prominent position on my kitchen counter and I've used it almost every single day since receiving it. Definitely one of my best purchases!
