Most folks view cat5 cables as either they work or they don't. What's the big deal? In some ways, I see it that way too. Here's the thing. Just because something does it's job doesn't mean it's doing it well. Most of us have owned a lot of cat5 cables over the course of our computing lives. Mostly we don't even pay for them. They just sort of show up. You get one or two that come with a computer or a router. Maybe the cable guy left a few extra when he came to your house ...because the Cable Company thinks we're too stupid to setup our own internet. A lot of the time I don't even know where I get them. It's probably magic or something. I'm convinced the sock monster is involved. You here me sock monster!? Keep your cat5 cables. Just stop stealing my left socks out of the drier! The point is; we all end up with these things laying around so why buy them? Because they suck! In my case because I didn't have enough anymore ...because they suck! A little too short or way too long. The tabs break off. Slow. They stop working, under completely mysterious circumstances. You end up staring at them with a magnifying glass like you're Sherlock Holmes going after Moriarty. Hunting for some clue as to why they so tragically died. Ultimately, failure to solve the mystery will crush you to the ground in utter defeat. Leaving you screaming at the sky with hatred for all mankind. In the recycle bin it goes and it's off for harrowing adventures trying to find a working cat5 cable. Don't laugh. I've actually done the magnifying glass thing and I've seen other people do it too. Okay, maybe not the screaming at the sky bit. Here's why Mediabridge cat5's do not suck. Even a cursory glance shows these to be well made from quality parts. It's not likely to last until the end of time but I suspect it will still work 15 years from now. Much lower packet loss, line jitter, data corruption and all that geekspeak when compared to other name brand cat5's I've owned. In other words, it's more efficient and therefore can move data in less time. I copied a 32.4 GB file from my laptop through my router to my desktop and it was noticeably faster, by about 10%, than the cat5 it replaced copying the same file. Good price for high quality. As in I didn't have to get a second job to pay for it. Not that I have a primary job. You hear that Mediabridge? You should hire me as an Advertising Consultant or something. I need a job. Initially, I thought was odd that they used odd numbered lengths. 3 ft. 7ft. instead of the usually 2ft. or 6ft. Then I realized, with every inch of pun intended, that extra foot goes a long way. (Piers Anthony would be so proud ...or he'd shoot me for a fool.)

Don't over pay for Ethernet (or HDMI). Many people do. Don't get too cheap. Many people do this too. Dollar store Ethernet Cables will not work well. I bought two of these 15' Mediabridge cables. They are solid, good cables for an unbeatable price. I use both Ethernet and Wireless in my home. I find that no matter what router you buy, a $18 TP-Link or a far more expensive Linksys, Netgear or D-Link, wireless is security risky (unless your network is located in a rural area) & it is unreliable in urban settings. There is just too much interference. Speeds vary different times of the day and different days of the week. Disconnect will happen. With the ever growing supply of free software that simplifies cracking Network security measures, no matter what you do your network will be penetrated, people will connect and use your Internet which will slow you down. I simply do not have these problems using Ethernet. Important Internet use I do only on an Ethernet connected computer. I use long cables. Two 15' and two 75 foot. Replacing a 75' cable in a house is work, unless you simply throw it down and make people negotiate a cord all the time. I demand quality cable for two reasons, time lost replacing them and I want the Internet speeds I pay for. Its insane to pay over $100 for a Monster Cable. Its just as unproductive to buy a $6 75' cable off eBay or from a local discount store. Mediabridge cables are quality cables for a reasonable price. Its that simple.

I am not a technician nor do I have the ability to test if these cables are up to Cat 6 standards. For that matter, I have no idea if these cables meet any standard at all. All I can tell you is that these are working fine for us. We have purchased a dozen of these cables so far. Each come in an excellent, durable, reclosable bag that has a tear tab above the zip reclose part. Like reclosable plastic bags. They also have included 1 reusable velcro strip to hold your cables together. I found that wifi just doesn't hold up to demands of various devices for downloads and updates. Ethernet is so much faster for downloading and uploading to hard wired devices. We live in the Columbus, Ohio area and our cable service provider is quickly working to upgrade our services to meet the 1 Gig and beyond. Where we live we are up to 400 mbps if we pay the extra fee for it. We currently have 200+mbps download and 24+mbps upload. Before I had Cat 5 cables and our speeds were at 100 mbps. ( verified constantly by Speedtest.net ) It used to take us hours ( yes, literally ) to update our gaming systems and games via wifi. But when I switched everything I could to ethernet, holy moly, what a difference! I did an update for Star Trek online that was nearly 5 gigabytes in just a few minutes. I wish I had timed it but I was so used to walking away on updates that when I came back with my cup of coffee, it was already finished! It took longer to wait for the update to run and install than to download! We really like these cables and so far we have not had any issues with any of the cables we have. I had to order more to replace the cables provided by Spectrum. We run 1 Playstation 2, 3 and two PS4's. 1 Roku, 2 4k Sony bravia's, 1 personal computer and now they all run so much faster. Gaming is faster with less lag ( almost none ) and rubber banding than before except for that Star trek game. Oy what a pain, that game has so much lag time! I have the 7 foot model cables and so far, so good. The picture quality is so much better than before and that's not just gaming. We use Amazon video, Britbox, Netflix, Viki and a number of free video streaming services and the picture and audio quality is very crisp, clear and no pixelation like before. I hope this helps.

Great replacement for WiFi. This works by plugging one end into a computer or game console and the other end into a modem or router, or I guess you could put it just between computers or routers or anything really that has a plug for this, and then you get the internet without having to know the WiFi password. The length is not as long as WiFi but the value of not needing to connect to the network adds a great quality to life, a much better value for money than buying a whole internet subscription when you can just get this and plug into a router absolutely anywhere you go.

I needed to connect my router to my Panasonic Viera Plasma TV and was rather reluctant to even give it a try. I talked with my niece's husband who is quite knowledgeable about these types of things. He told me that I could get a CAT5 ethernet cable and wire it from my den in one corner of the house to my TV in the opposite corner by way of a 50-foot or longer cable. I was wondering if a 50-foot cable would suffice given all the twists and turns I needed to do to get the cable from Point A to Point B. I did a little internet research to see if the TV picture would be compromised if I overestimated the distance and ordered a much longer cable than needed. My queries satisfied me that I could simply coil up any unnecessary cable and the connection would still work well. I opted to buy the 100-foot cable and by going under "this" and over "that", made the connection with many feet of cable to spare. I turned on the TV, made the necessary change from wireless to ethernet in the settings and VOILA, everything worked perfectly! (I had been having trouble with buffering and now with but a couple of exceptions, everything on all the spps on the smart TV work seamlessly. Couldn't be happier.) When I originally talked to my niece's husband about the setup, I was a bit concerned as to what such a long ethernet cable would cost given that I had spent $12 at Staples for a 6-foot cord. He told me that he thought I could get a 50-foot cable for around $30 - but suggested I go to eBay to see if I could get it for that. Imagine my surprise when I found this great cable for less than half that at Mediabridge (through Amazon) and that was for a 100-foot cable. The company cable came with a few other items I ordered on Amazon and it was packaged very well. The turnaround time was most reasonable. I don't think you can go wrong with this cable - or ordering anything from Mediabridge.
