Fast, Smooth and Surprisingly Essential
When we moved house recently, I needed a tool that could do a bit of everything: disassemble furniture, modify awkward panels, and cut through various materials without needing a full workshop setup. I bought the Bosch UniversalSaw 18V-100 (Amazon Edition, no battery), and within an hour of unpacking it, I was completely sold. It handled divan bed frames, MDF furniture, and solid pine panels — all smooth, fast, and with a lot more control than I expected. This is my first jigsaw, so I approached it as a novice. I watched a few YouTube videos on blade types, cutting techniques, and pendulum settings — surprisingly accessible stuff. The Bosch SDS blade change system made experimentation easy. I could switch blades in seconds without touching a tool. I stuck to the included Bosch 15-piece mixed set to start (wood and metal), and it's great that you get such a range with the saw.Performance and Build- Cutting depth: Up to 100mm in wood — I cut through 40mm pine legs in seconds, no bogging down.- Speed control: Variable trigger is responsive and ideal for starting slow then ramping up.- Pendulum action: I started with setting 1 for smooth cuts and worked up to 3–4 for fast demolition. The action is very noticeable when sawing thicker materials.- Weight: 1.6kg without battery (2.0kg with my aftermarket 4.0Ah), which felt very manageable, even one-handed for short bursts.- Safety features: Soft start helps prevent blade jumping. There’s also a splinter guard included for cleaner cuts on top edges. For safety, I always wore impact-rated safety glasses — especially when cutting older furniture with embedded staples or brackets. The jigsaw doesn’t throw a lot of debris, but why risk it? I also made a habit of stepping back from the cut line before turning it off, just in case of unexpected movement. Using clamps helped a lot to hold boards steady.Learning curve:- Curved cuts are harder than they look — I practised on scrap MDF to get used to steering.- Sawdust management is manual — no dust extraction, so I’d pause to clear the surface.- Keep your hand pressure light — let the blade do the work. Pushing too hard causes jagged results.I’ve now used this for:– Dismantling two tables and a full bed frame– Cutting plywood panels for under-bed storage– DIY shelving and cable management ducts– Modding garden trellis panelsPairing it with a generic 18V 4.0Ah battery, I got over an hour of intermittent use. No heating, no cutouts. I use it alongside a Bosch cordless drill and multi-tool, and the shared battery system is a genuine money-saver.Final thoughts:This saw isn’t intimidating, even if you’ve never held one before. It feels safe, deliberate, and easy to learn with. The documentation was basic, but online tutorials filled the gaps. After a few hours of hands-on use, I felt more confident than I expected. It’s not flawless — a better storage case and dust port would help — but for £70, it’s a brilliant entry into proper cordless power tools.A tool I bought out of necessity… and now use every week.

Really 3 and half stars due to small flaws I don't expect at this price point.
For general dIY this jigsaw will manage most jobs thrown at it, but it does have a few issues that at the price really bring it down in my estimation. My biggest bug bear is the blade guide which is a tiny bit out and makes accurate cutting difficult, although once I knew this I did manage to adjust for it. Secondly the blade attachment mechanism is difficult to use being very stiff. Finally the lack of a case is annoying, but I am planning on repurposing an old case to fit it. I'm also going to mention the lack of an included battery which some people will find annoying to purchase separately, but I was lucky enough to already own a Bosch drill that uses the same battery. The jigsaw is powerful enough for my purposes, mostly cutting MDF and small pieces of timber and the pendulum system really makes a difference to cutting power, but I haven't tried it on metals yet.I would really have liked to give this three and a half stars due to the issues raised but I always round up whenever I review items on Amazon.

Quality DIY Jigsaw
Needed a jigsaw for installation of an attic floor and it's been used a fair bit, lately used it to cut through a metal handle and I've been happy with it. The included blades are very handy, I haven't had to buy new ones and it's been a fair bit of use in a few projects this year.

Excellent product
Easy to use and set up. Remember you'll need a battery and possibly a case for storing.
