XLC02ZB 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Vacuum, Tool Only

3 years old still works great. We added cyclone attachment it we love it!. I did drop the Cyclone attachment once and broke it so I ordered a new one but that was my fault. A 5 amp hour battery lasts a good 45 minutes to an hour of runtime.

For me, this is an outstanding helpful tool that I am thankful for every day! I have wood floors in my house. I have pets. I have two dyson vacuums which I love. But this makes me dance a jig for a few reasons...it's cordless, it's lightweight, it's small, and it is simple. So, we keep this in the laundry room which is next to the kitchen. We also have a battery charger there, and a battery operated Makita blower. I use this little vacuum to clean up dog hair and cat litter and pieces of grass and debris we bring in from our shoes or dog paws. The canister doesn't hold a lot, but for me it is perfect! I dump it into a trash I have in the backyard, and at the same time, I use the Makita blower to blow off the fabric filter because I can't shake the fur/dust off of it. The little fabric filters are easy to accidently throw in the trash while emptying the canister, so be careful. The little filters are well made out of a felt type material...they have a strong stitching and I can't imagine needing to change it very often if you blow it off to clean it. My system may not work for everyone. I can honestly say if I didn't have the little Makita blower right next to it, I wouldn't love this vacuum as much because the filter would have to be changed so often. This machine is not meant to be strong carpet cleaner. I'm unsure why they invented it at all....but I love it for my wood floors because I love clean floors and this helps me EASILY keep them vacuumed.

It's a bit flimsy for a "Makita" branded product, but suction is decent. It does lose suction quick when the small bag/filter starts getting clogged, but not hard to clean out.

We've got 2 cats that track litter 24/7 on our hardwood floors. Keeping this light weight and easy to use vacuum near their litter box really helps keep our floors cleaner. It's so easy to use: no bending over with dust pan, no dragging out the big plug-in vacuum, and no more cat litter on the bottom of our bare feet. We love this vacuum. Another plus is how fast you can move throughout the house doing a quick vacuuming. Dust bunnies, cat fur, and the daily debris tracked in near entry doors. We have lots of Makita 18 volt cordless tools. So this was a no brainer. The batteries charge quickly and last a long time.

FOR THE COST, this is a well thought out product and performs it's functions as expected. There are reports of cracks appearing in parts of the translucent blue chamber - to be expected in that the thickness of the plastic is minimal and needs redesigned. Just be CAREFUL to not ram the accessories into the intake nozzle or bang the extension into anything and the otherwise well-built unit will perform admirably for many, many years - or until Makita redesigns the chamber and supplies it to original owners as warranty - in perpetuity on request. Mine had short, tiny cracks in the chamber, to which I applied on the interior clear Plastiweld epoxy. The repair is invisible and can't fail again. (This is a superb little vacuum and returning it for a replacement is foolish since it's successor will be the same. I'm handy, have a dozen other excellent Makita tools, and this one is ideal for my uses). I ordered this XLC02ZB (USA) but received one with a Canada/EU model number (see photos attached), yet identical in every discernible way. The packaging was new/factory without a smudge or spec of dust or any sign of prior handling. I suspect this was a "second" and not a return/refurbish. Amazon promptly compensated me for the price difference so I have no complaints whatsoever.

Handy, compact and light, really good suction and simple design with little to fail. Best of all, I am not using some puny battery with no replacements available, but one that works a long time with all my tools. Use 2Ah battery most of the time, will do the whole house but it will take my 8Ah battery too, just makes it heavier. Filters and accessories readily available. Price higher than some for the features, but it will work a long time. I have only been able to wear out one Makita tool in all my years of using them. Even comes with a wall hanger bracket so it is not falling over in a closet or corner somewhere but can be kept handy.

I loved this little vac , till I tried to open it to empty. I have many Makita tools and this and the auto screw gun are the only tools that are very poor design. I can’t open the dirt compartment to empty it , thereby rendering it useless. . I feel makita knows of this problem yet does nothing. If you notice the price of this item has come down $20.00 usd in the last few weeks, wonder if they are trying to get rid of inventory? Stupid me, I thought maybe it was a problem with just my unit but I was in Home Depot this past weekend and I bought another one, it opened easily in the store, but once I got it home and used it , came time to empty and couldn’t open it either. I have even tried to open it with a strap wrench, no go unless I want to crack the cheap blue plastic ( I read on these reviews , that makita ‘s 3 year warranty will not cover this part if it cracks) this vac is clearly defective and makita service is real good about passing the buck. I called Denver service today and they told me to send it to Las Vegas, I live in Colorado and they want me to pay shipping to Vegas , this is deliberate I believe to discourage repairs. Makita really starting to suck ! Typical corporate greedheads!

I use it for the run around the house, patio and car and does a job as good as a Dyson and I bet last longer

Was good and as described. A bit banged up on receipt but content was safe.
