Naturepedic No Compromise Organic Cotton Classic Lightweight Crib Mattress

The crib mattress is definitely VERY firm, noticeably more so than the last brand we used. We almost didn’t buy it after reading reviews but I’m glad we did. My toddler was on a different mattress and took a day or two to adjust to the different feel but our baby has had no problems sleeping on it. Honestly, the biggest thing for me was confidence in the quality and safety of the product. This was the most affordable crib mattress I could find from naturepedic (they had a promo on top of a sale). The brand is top notch for safety and good ingredients. I’m so glad I upgraded to keep my babies safe from all of the harmful chemicals in other mattresses! It’s also super easy to clean.

Why I ordered this item: We're expecting our second and our old mattress had a weird smell to it that never went away. I wanted something organic this time around, mostly for peace of mind. Likes: * This thing weighs almost nothing. I picked it up with one hand to change the sheet cover and it felt like I was carrying a pillow. * It's firm. Like really firm. Pediatrician told us that's what you want for a newborn so this checks that box. * The cover wipes clean with just soap and water. My son had a diaper blowout on it and it wiped right up, no staining. * It fits our standard crib snug with no gaps on the sides. * No funky chemical smell out of the packaging. No likes: * The firmness takes some getting used to if you're comparing it to a normal mattress. It's basically like laying a kid on a yoga mat, though I know that's the point. * It's a little pricey for what amounts to a piece of foam and some fabric. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes My wife likes that changing sheets is easy now since it's not some heavy coil brick. Good pick if you're worried about off-gassing in the nursery.

Works great. And holds up for years

So far this matress is 4 stars. Will try to update after a few months of baby sleeping on it. At first glance: •Packaged well •There is no chemical smell, only that of maybe yeast or flour?... not bothersome. •very firm (important for safety, we personally prefer this) •rigid waterproof surface (not sewn down in the same direction, so the edge sticks out and does not lay flat under sheet. It is at least on the side of matress where there is no contact with baby. •Very lightweight •The waterproof surface (seems very heavy duty) has rigid corners, so I'm wondering if over time, rubbing because of sheet changes and in/out of crib will damage the corners and cause holes in those rigid areas or break down stability of corners. •Fits our standard crib. Could be 1 cm wider for perfect fit. •You will need to buy crib sheets with a bit of stretch. Target crib sheets would not fit. Burt's Bees organic cotton sheets fit nicely.

Great crib mattress. Durable and has no smell upon taking out of package. It’s clean and supportive. Very good value for the price!
