Is this a direct replacement for an Ei 141? Will it go straight onto the existing fitting?

Hi Dave. Yes this is a direct replacement for the Ei141. My Ei141 came to its end of life recently. I contacted AiCo as I wasn't sure but they confirmed the Ei146e is the optical alarm replacement for the Ei141. The Ei146e will come with the base fitting (which is a standard unit for most of the mains smoke alarms) but you shouldn't need it as the replacement fits to base.

I fitted this to an existing aico fitting and it just won't stop beeping. I've pressed the test button for 10 seconds but it won't stop

Had no problem when I installed mine on the existing wired Aico base. Whilst on a wired base it usually only bleeps continuously when the battery is low. Try a new battery, see if that works.

Can the firex model 1240c be replaced with the ei 146e

If it is replacing a unit on its own it will be fine, but it will not interconnect with the Firex if there is more than one you would have to replace with the same manufacture!
