FoamRush 5" x 24" x 24" Upholstery Foam Cushion High Density (Square Foam for Dining Chairs, Chair & Wheelchair Seat Cushion Replacement)

Has anyone noticed that the outdoor furniture seat cushions from HD, Lowes, Home stores, etc. really are poor (other word came to mind but wanted review to pass)! They ALL have flimpsy, non supportive cushions, or whatever filler they have, that simply flattens out when you sit on them. Not sure what junk they put in those seats, but unless you go to Fortunuf for really high price outdoor furniture, your sunk! We bought two of these to replace cushions for our outside wicker chairs that we've had for several years. The seat bottom covers had zippers and were 4" thick, so after reading reviews wanted to try these. First off, we have a 12 x 16 screened in porch, so these chairs never get direct rain. So kind of "outdoor" use. Guess if your seat covers were water proof it would be okay. I'm 235 lbs, my wife a lot less, but never tells me. I had to cut them down to about 23 1/8"' x 22", the size of our seat covers. I first marked the cutting lines along each cushion edge with a permant marker. Then used a standard cutting blade, like you get from Home Depot, scoring along lines, gradually cutting through the foam. It took a while, the foam is dense. Got a fairly straight edge. I've read electric cutting knives work well for cutting foam, but didn't have one. Once cut, I managed to fold the cushions in half, then insert/squish it into seat cover and unfold it to get cushion in. It was a bit tough, but ultimately worked out fine. I inserted the uncut edge in first so the front edge of the cushion would look good. So, did it work? Yes! When my wife and I each sat on these cushions, TOTAL, support. To the point where I hardly sunk in at all! It was very stiff and supportive, and after using all summer, remains supportive. We feel so high up in seats, almost too high, especially my wife. I give it a five for doing what we wanted, not to bottom out and squish down, a four for comfort because even more supportive them I expected!

The firmes is perfect! My old cushions were so old.. they were flat and hurt my hips and back. These make my couch look new, and it feels amazing to lay down on them! I can sit without my hips hurting. I couldn't wait to get these cushions! I read the reviews multiple times and was very excited to get them. They finally arrived today and they fully support me. I've had them about three hours now and so far I just LOVE THEM. I've read other reviews how they wont go flat and I'm hoping that is the case. I kinda trust the other reviews. I enjoy the cynical comical ones, and yes these so far are living up to every positive review I've read! I have some lower back issues and hopefully, and finally, my lower back can heal. After a new bed, expensive orthotics, office chair cushions, and now new couch cushions... hopefully my little broken body can experience the support it needs everywhere I need to sit. Anyway I'm very happy! These are not too hard and offer amazing support!

The packaging of the foam was off the wall. There was so much tightly wrapped plastic around the foam that it took ten minutes to get to the foam itself. Cutting was simply with a scissor and it stayed in place when closing the cushion. That said, the foam is good quality and should last a long time. It's got good bounce back when depressed, sat flat on the springs of the couch, and was quite firm when sat upon.

This high density foam is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I needed a firmer seat cushion for my reading chair as I have lower back and leg issues. The existing cushion was medium density and sometimes I could barely get out of the chair, let alone walking afterwards. At first when I sat down, I was worried it may be too firm, but it is not only supportive but very comfortable. The foam arrives wrapped tightly in shrink wrap (like the mattresses that arrive in a box). The size of the foam was a tad larger than I needed, but I left it in the bag while it expanded and then twisted the end closed when it got to the correct size. Leaving it in the bag also made it very easy to insert into the seat cushion. Another plus is I didn’t notice any odor to the foam, unlike so many pillows and mattresses that have to be aired out before using. Very satisfied.

**Update 2022** Three years later and my couch is still looking and feeling brand new. This couch is 7 or so years old and it doesn't look or feel like it thanks to the refurbish this foam helped me do. **Original from 2019** My couch is about four years old and the couch structure itself is great, however the cushions were lumpy and just plain uncomfortable and terrible. I was just about to put it next to the dumpster when I figured since I replaced the couch's bottom lining, maybe I could also replace the cushions and with something without springs. Enter this material. This stopped me from having to spend a thousand on a new couch and has given my couch new life! They are comfortable and it's been about a month so far and we still love them.

The foam product itself seems great, however getting something like this in the mail is very frustrating as a customer. This thing had been pressured down, over wrapped, folded over and wrapped so hard it’s very difficult to get this wrapping off without damaging the foam, ridiculous.

These last so much longer than any of the ones that you buy at the major box stores. We were also able to purchase the covers that fit perfectly. We've had these for well over a year on our patio furniture, and we use it daily, and they are still holding up really well.

I tried buying new cushions for my large patio chairs, but the quality out there for a set of patio cushions is terrible and expensive. I kept paying more and getting nothing more for my money. As soon as I sat on the cushion it sinks to a pancake. NO Thank You...so I decided to just find replacement cushion inserts and purchase separate covers and try creating my own set instead. I bought one of these cushions as a test in the 24 x 24 with 5 inch size. Very pleased that it is firm, comfortable and does not collapse to nothing like those other ones did.
