two best friends +1
A fun story about two friends who gave nicknames to all the otherStudents. Till one day a girl with red hair walked into their classroom. Then everything turned upside down, they lost their teacher. ThenThis huge football coach walked in. He was loud and when they tooktests, he ran up and down cheering them on. They all had to learnCoaching and football terminology. He was a good teacher,he only asked that they gave a 100 & 10 percent. After all you can have a badgame day. So everyone backed their new teacher up and the boys learned the value of true friendship. A great book to read.Debra F.

Good light fun book for boys.
I was straightening up my son's book shelves and as is usual for me, I read a few of them. Gordon Korman is one of his favorite authors at the moment so he asked me to read this one in particular. It is a light book, nice quick read, aimed at 4th - 6th grade boys. Two best friends who have a great time assigning appropriate nicknames for everyone they encounter. There is a nice little message threaded through the book about friendship and loyalty and also about how maybe a person given a nickname that is not quite in line with the opinion others have about that person might actually step outside themselves and rise to the expectation's of the nickname. This happened with good effect to "iceman" but it also begs the question about the consequences of negative nicknames. The main impression I got from this book was how a perfectly wonderful, lifetime friendship between two 11 yr old boys can be totally ruined by the introduction of a new girl in school.

Cassandra was the best character!
This book was required as summer reading for entering into 6th grade. I really enjoyed how the character Cassandra is strong, smart, kind, and unique. She appreciated the character of "old bricks" over new bricks for her house. She recognized and encouraged the strengths in other characters, yet she was confident in her own choices. Even in the first chapter, I laughed loudly so people outside could hear me. I think you will like this book!

Hilarious and Grade Six Fitting
Kids really enjoyed reading this book. We did it as a read aloud and I bought the audibook. The kids found the voices on the audiobook hilarious - there was a high level of engagement with this book.
