An easy worthwhile read
I recently discovered her videos and thought I would give this book a try. It's wonderful. She has an easy to understand to the point sweet view of the world that can help you see things more clearly and optimistically.

It's worth it. Trust me.
Like most people, I saw Anna on youtube drop the video about her releasing the book. I went onto amazon and bought it without hesitation or giving it much thought. I even subscribed to prime just so that I could get it earlier because I didnt want to wait until june 23rd to read it. Today I just finished it. I normally never write reviews for things on Amazon let alone buy books from youtubers. The last book I got was from Michelle Phan and to be honest I wish I could return that book because it did absolutely nothing for me in the sense that I know that I would never find myself returning to that book years down the line or maybe tomorrow for advice on anything remotely deep or relating to my life. That book will just either remain on my dresser collecting dust or either in a trash can once I put in the effort of doing so. "so much I want to tell you" on the other hand, is that book for me. Unlike Mish's book (not hating I totally swear) this book actually and truly felt so real to me. Usually people think of youtubers as these celebrities or greek gods up in the clouds that are perfect and happy or whatever. But Anna, my goodness, Anna Akana kept it real 100. She too has gone through and felt everything that mostly everyone has and she's honest about it. She doesn't try to always sound positive all of the time or as if her life is just absolutely perfect like most youtubers like as if she hasn't gone through any form of issue. From this book you can tell that she's being genuine in everything. As I found myself pouring through the pages, I felt comfort which is something that I havent felt from reading a book in a long time. I got lost in this book like I was immersed in this book. I actually got sad when I realized that I reached the last page because I knew that all of the things that she had left to share and teach in this book was over. I felt like Anna was with me. Like Natalie Tran said, I too also wanted to giver her a big hug. When you read this book whoever you are, just know that you wont regret it. Anna does have much that she wants to tell and honestly it will really suck if you miss out on it because it's worth it.

I liked it.
I wasn't expecting this book to be so dynamic, as it was coming from a "youtuber", but Anna has always shown her brilliance throughout her videos and short films so I took a chance and put down the money to buy this book, my gamble payed off big time. As I started divulging more deeply into her book, I was shook. The personal details that she confesses throughout her earlier years of life are perspective changing. I believe that Anna's audience is mostly female, and her video's reflect toward that viewer base as she tackles sensitive topics such as rape victims being shunned ,self-harm, and female sexual fantasies. From a male's perspective, I am glad I was able to read this book because it highlights some of the strongest struggles that women face on a daily basis to this day, the struggles that men SHOULD BE EDUCATED about. Women being perceived as submissive, unintelligent, and reusable sex objects, Anna goes down a plethora of subjects but those are just a few I could name off the top of my head. This is the reason why I have stayed subscribed to her for over 2 years, because Anna separates herself from the casual fluffy female YouTuber and brings critical topics to light while still maintaining the integrity of both sides of an argument logically. This book was so powerful that i actually wanted to to write a review about it, if that's not enough to convince you how much I like it, then idk what else will. If you have some side cash laying around, grab a copy of this and treat yourself.

interesting read but not sure if it would be enjoyed by non-fans
I am a fan of Anna Akana. She is a very impressive, strong, and entertaining woman. This book was interesting and I am glad to have read it. However, a lot of it felt repetitive to me. There were many chapters that were only two or three pages long and chapters with very similar subject matter. I am curious about the editing of the book because it is so different from most of the memoirs and/or autobiographies I've read from contemporary figures. I also didn't see a strong connection between most of the stories here and the sister Anna tragically lost. She ties this together several times by saying that her sister is with her in everything she does and is her inspiration and so forth, and I can respect that. However, for me as a reader it was a bit confusing as Anna's sister is not a woman working in the business world and entertainment industry in 2017. There are advice type stories here but a lot of them are related more to business and work ethic than other topics. If I'd never watched Anna's YouTube videos or short films, I probably wouldn't like this nearly as well as I did. I wanted to give it four stars but I just can't quite get there. Bottom line here is that Anna Akana is many things but author probably isn't at the top of that list (and that is ok).

LOVE
I simply love this book. It has a very unique voice to it (as you can probably assume if you are a fan of Anna on YT). The book covers a wide variety of topics (again just like her YT videos), and is a very laid back down to earth approach - duh! it is written like it is to her sister! This book never once lost my interest while I was reading, which was really impressive to me as few books can do that! I finished the book in two sittings because it just caught my interest so well. It would have been one sitting, but I had other things to do that caused me to have to postpone my reading.

A Must Buy for Everyone!
I'm sure most people who have purchased Anna's book are subscribers of her Youtube Channel. This review is for those who may not know about Anna Akana - I know you have probably read or heard an excerpt or read the product information but it certainly does not do this justice. The book is Anna's voice speaking a lot of life truths, and yes some may think 'cliches' - but remember something, life's cliches are born from truth. This book is a must read for every woman, man, teenager, young adult, adult, etc out there, it can appeal to pretty much everyone. It's all the things you really wish someone told you or even would tell you now. What is it really about? - It breaks down a lot of life challenges that we all experience in small easy to read and digest chapters. You don't fell overwhelmed, but rather feel like you are having a conversation with someone who knows what they are talking about and can give you an encouraging but realistic take on things.I read this in one sitting - and for me that only happens when I have been truly engaged with what I'm reading. You won' t regret this buy, and this is a book you will be able to go back to again and again.Check out Anna's Youtube Channel to get to know here a bit more and see her fabulous content (no - I am not being sponsored to say any of this)

Down to earth and moving
I only recently stumbled upon Anna Akana on Youtube and have watched a couple of her videos, so decided to buy the book as I found her strong opinions and content interesting. This book is not about her sister but about Anna’s life struggles after her sisters suicide. It goes through the hardships she faced during her working life, past bad relationships, money, mental health issues and includes the short film Take you birth control (which is the exact same word for word as the YouTube version) and what she learned from them. The book is very down to earth and moving, and gives a great insight into Anna’s life that otherwise is not portrayed as much online.

A necessary read!
This book, while not necessarily an easy read, gives so many important lessons about how to approach life, especially for the younger audience Anna Akana appeals to. It's the kind of book that once you've read it, not only do you remember the lessons, but you can dip into it to remind yourself of how to approach things, almost like a guide to life that the world never gave you. Additionally, it provides younger readers with self-esteem and confidence, helping them to find themselves, which i think is so important considering how disenfranchised the new generation is by the pressures placed on them.

5 Stars
Forget Great Expectations or Of Mice & Men people should be reading this book in school, I would have loved and benefited to have been able to learn every bit of knowledge that Anna Akana shares in this book. I really respect that Anna didn’t name and shame anyone when it came to discussing her identity, career and racism in Hollywood, she could have easily have done but didn’t.I leant a lot from this book, understanding the movie business (which is something I’ve always been interested in) Anna also talks about creativity, identity, career and more, all very helpful insights.
