Would they fit an adult?

For normal anatomy , the answer is yes. If said adult is built like a bull elephant, probably yes

are they smooth of the back so we could put a sticker?

Yes. A small smooth rectangle which I put a label on.

Are these plastic or metal

metal. they are a good weight, have some heft in your hand - more substantial than I was expecting, but not too heavy. I recommend!
