The Watchman on the Wall: Daily Devotions for Praying God's Word Over Those You Love (The Watchman on the Wall, 1)

I found this devotion to have an almost prophetic quality to it. God is clearly calling intercessors to not give Him any rest until He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. The Watchman on the Wall compels us to be watchman interceding on behalf of our churches and loved ones until Father God establishes them. To be established means to make stable and constant, to be firm and fastened, to be settled and secure, to be directed and fixed aright, to be enduring and steadfast. I have thoroughly enjoyed using this devotion.

Ron and Marsha live the testimony they share in these daily devotions. I love how every day begins with a chapter of scripture, provides insight and thoughtful meditation, commentary, and inspiration on that text, then ends with helpful guidelines and prayer to pray that scripture you just read over your family. This is how Marsha raised her family -- all now serving in foreign missions -- by praying God's Word with authority and claiming the promises of the Bible for her, her husband, and their children.

"The Watchman on the Wall…." is a Bible Study and a Scriptural prayer guide all in one! I wake up each morning looking forward to what God will show me when I open His Word along with this book. It is obvious that the authors have studied God's word and love Him and His Word. I am thankful to God for the time, energy and wisdom they have poured into the writing of this book. Molly Ellis :-)

WOW! The Watchman on the Wall is the next step after Jesus Calling. The Lord brings us near to Himself, we experience His presence, and then He calls us to faithfully pray for our loved ones. This book is excellent. The Bible teaching and the prayers that come from God Word are great.

This book is not just "user friendly" but keeps you in a disciplined time with the Lord. Also, you work your way through the various books of the Bible. I love praying Scripture over my family too.

I was following Marsha's blog last year which daily had you read a chapter a day and then from that chapter take a verse or two to mediate or memorize and pray over your loved ones. I was delighted to discover last November that she and Chaplin Harvell had created a book covering an entire year of these devotions. When you are finished you will have read a third of the Bible and prayed many verses of scripture over your family and loved ones. I ordered several for family and friends, and have also just bought the Kindle version for myself which will be very handy to take on trips. I highly recommend this devotional!

We received our Watchman as a gift and after reading the devotionals for a couple of days bought three more as gifts. There are many devotionals in print but rarely do they ask you to read a chapter in the Bible to start the devotional. This book is a wonderful way to read the Bible along with a daily devotional. It also increases a persons ability to have a little time out with God each day. You will not be disappointed with this devotional.
