Does not even power up
Really disappointed in this product. Flimsy and long 2 pin power plug that when connected to the uk 3 pin becomes really clumsy and fiddly. Unable to get device to power on. Just this annoying beep. This is appalling for a product of this price. At least cheap Chinese crap powers up.

I received my Smartmi Air Purifier last Sunday and I’ve been using it ever since. Since the pandemic started, I have been wanting to get a super high quality air purifier for a couple of reasons. 1) On the off chance someone in my house or my parents’ house gets sick, I will feel much safer if we are able to keep the air clean to keep the disease from spreading (any disease, really, not just Covid). Also, I am a private voice teacher, and the only way I will feel safe opening up in person again is to have a purifier constantly running in my studio to keep germs at bay. I owned an air purifier when I lived in Los Angeles, but it was huge and ugly (looked like an overgrown paper shredder!). The Smartmi is big, but has a much smaller footprint than I was expecting. It is also beautifully designed and lovely to look at. The controls are simple and it’s easy to set up and use, and most important to me, it’s QUIET. My voice studio is right around the corner from my kitchen, and all of the cooking smells leech into the room, which can be very unpleasant for some students who may not want to smell garlic or fish when they’re singing. If I have this on while I’m cooking and then go into the studio, it smells like NOTHING. Once summer rolls around, I’ll bet it will take care of my students’ odors too, since there’s nothing like having a student come in right after soccer practice! Also, with a bathroom attached to my studio, I won’t have to worry about any lingering smells. This unit is really powerful and able to work in a large room. It has a true HEPA filter, which is something that was incredibly important to me for purchase. It also has the bonus of a temperature gauge and humidity sensor, and for someone who runs a humifier constantly in the winter, it’s great to actually know what level the room is at so I can adjust accordingly. The app is easy to install and use. You can schedule the purifier to come on at specific times, so on days that I teach I don’t have to remember to turn it on (or off – it’s so quiet you’re bound to forget it’s working). You can see the temperature and humidity. You can change the brightness of the light or turn it off entirely. Very user friendly. The only thing I haven’t figured out yet is how to change the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Not a big deal, but I would like to have the option. The touchless feature will be very useful for most people, it’s super easy to use – for me, I have turned it off via the app because my toddler will wave his hand over it all day long and change the settings. I’m glad that there’s an option to have it on or off. It also works with OK Google and Alexa, neither of which I have, but I can only assume that could really come in handy if you’re used to using those. It’s definitely 2021 ready! This is really top quality. I’ve only been using it for a little under a week, but I am very impressed with the features and the air quality in the rooms in which I’ve used it.

The ripped top, the missing seal, the manual that looked like someone had been thumbing through it for hours were all signs my “new” air filter was anything but new, but the dead giveaway was the bright red tape around the box that said “return” on it. So I followed the instructions on the tape and returned it. Edit Customer service contacted me quickly, and offered to make the situation right which is a very good thing. I am confident this company wants you to have a good experience with their products which is important to me. Amazon sent me a replacement unit which was quickly delivered and good thing it was. My garbage disposal unit decided to vent smoke the same night this arrived. Was able to quickly and easily join this to the app, then to all of my smart home platforms. I had the app installed already because I owned the lamp. This went to work, sounded pretty loud as it worked to clear the air. But did a great job. Now it’s in its normal place working away. It’s normally very quiet unless it senses a lot of particles, then it goes into turbo mode to clean the air as fast as it can. I like the different modes and being able to set up schedules. I like it so much, am goi g to purchase the P1 version to play around with that for my bedroom. Edit 2 upped the stars to reflect actual performance of the product

I have had this product for about 9 months and I am really pleased with it. I did some research before buying it and it's considered one of the best air purifiers for the price range. It's definitely not meant for very large rooms or open concept areas, as it says in the description. But it works well in enclosed areas. I bought this mostly for my cat who had some lung issues that were caused by allergy, the most likely cause being dust. I keep it in the areas that he spends most of the time in and he hasn't had any more coughing fits since using this. I'm sure there are other factors but I think this has made a big difference. I would like to get multiple of these so I don't have to move this around. But it's actually very portable as it has a handle to carry it by and is quite light. It's also had some benefits for us. My boyfriend is finding that when we keep it in the bedroom at night (by the way the noise is about as loud as fan, you will adjust very quick) he doesnt feel stuffed up when he wakes up. It also cuts the pet smell really well. If we keep it in the room with the litter box you can't smell a thing. For those of you wondering about how long until you need a replacement filter.. We have 2 cats (one is long haired and both shed a lot), carpets and we never clean but are non smokers and we just had to replace the filter after 8 months.

Gee, where to begin? Well, first off, I'd like to say that EVERYONE should run an air purifier in their home (or their work space even) because air quality (as well as water and food) is a direct health impactor. It doesn't matter if you live in the crowded city or the country, indoor air quality is never as good as the fresh air outside. Unless you use an air purifier, that is. There's a lot I really like about this, and a few things I don't care for. Lets talk about the stuff I like first. First off, right out of the box I noticed that the "plain, black cord" that accompanies the vast, vast majority of products is eschewed here for a nicely made cord that matches the purifier color. Like, it's odd to mention the quality of a cord in a review, so the fact I even bring it up should tell you that they've paid attention to detail. At least for the most part. Also of particular note is that the cord for this is removable. This is also a huge plus for an air purifier that might sit on the floor where someone might trip on the cord. If your cord is permenantly affixed to the purifier, you might seriously damage it if someone trips on it. This cord will simply be pulled from the purifier. Whoops, no big. Once again, a nice detail. Also, owning several air purifiers with various displays, the OLED display on this is one of the coolest, by far. I actually prefer the display on this to my $1000 Aeris air purifier. Another big plus. Styling and build of the purifier is really good, and installing and replacing the filters is super easy and quick. Talking 15 seconds if you're fiddling around and taking your time. And I like all the things it monitors and filters. These aspects are 2nd to none, really. But on to the not so great. First, is the NECESSITY of having the app installed and running to get the full functionality (like the gesture control). I like it when an app is AVAILABLE, that's great. I DON'T like it when half the features (like setting the speed manually) are missing in the normal setup, forcing you to use the app to truly get the most out of the product. Some of us don't want another wifi source in our homes and another app on our already overloaded phones. Make it available, but not a REQUIREMENT. Second...filters are available, but they're $50 a pop. I'm sorry but when filters start to push past $30, $35 bucks, they tend to get put off and neglected. When filters are cheap, people change them more often, your air purifier works better, and people are more apt to talk about how much their air purifier has helped their overall health. And you're more apt to sell more purifiers. Just saying. Last...this might be an isolated incident, but mine makes a little "tic tic tic tic" sound from the fan running. To the point it gets REAL annoying on high. I highly doubt this exists in all of them, but mine definitely makes a noise. I can only really run it on low or it's annoying. There's a lot I like, some I don't here. I like it, overall, in terms of build quality and "cool factor" (the OLED display is especially cool, but it would be nice if the advanced features such as gesture control and manual speed adjustment were available WITHOUT the app). And you should be prepared to drop $50 a filter for this probably 2x a year. At least. And mine makes a noise. Which is probably uncommon. Honestly, if you're the type of person that loves apps for everything, and don't mind the filter cost, this will be your new favorite gadget. If you're "app shy", then this isn't your purifier. Also, I included a close-up of the OLED display, nobody seems to have one yet. Hope it helps.

Wow, it really works. We've had HORRIBLE AIQ in Los Angeles today on Dec 5, it's in the news right now and we were told to stay indoors!!!! I think its 154 AIQ where I am. When I open the sliding doors to my apt the smartmi spiked and turned red! I closed the door and am purifying my place now and it's getting down to 005 PM.. When I open the door its at like 035+! Wow! I have a small space and this device is great for cleaning the air. As a test I put it on the balcony and it spiked to 150! This purifier truly works and the indicator is correct as well
