Krusteaz Banana Quick Bread Mix, Made with Real Bananas, 15.0 oz Boxes (Pack of 12)

Oh YUMMMM!! Every year at this time begins our season of real RVing. For me, this includes making muffins, breads, cookies, etc. This year, we purchased a new (to us) RV, and we spent a lot of time refitting said RV, with not a lot of time left over for baking. I found myself in the awkward position of not having the same amount of time as before for the baking and turning to the idea of using (shudder) MIXES! Admittedly, I tried a few other mixes before trying Krusteaz - with lackluster results. Finally, I gave in and purchased Krusteaz with the feeling of "last chance". Holy moly, am I glad I did! It all started with the Banana bread/ muffin mix! As soon as I opened the package, I knew something was... different. I could actually smell the ingredients and they did not smell artifical, they smelled of the same quality of bananas as I would have purchased if I had gone to the store. Hmmmm. As I added the ingredients, it seemed too easy to be true and the texture felt just right. Finally it was time for the true test - baking and then yes, Eating. After an eternity, I had muffins cooled on the rack. I timidly peeled back the muffin tin, split the muffin in two and inspected the muffin. It had baked perfectly: evenly, not too dense, not too airy, properly domed, gorgeously brown on top - everything you want a muffin to be. A close sniff told me the quality had survived the baking process and I took a bite. The taste was perfect! How had I missed this product for so long? How many hours had I spent baking from scratch when I could have had so many hours free to do other things? Wow. OK. So much for the drama (I have so much extra time now!). Here's the bottom line: do I recommend this? Heck yeah! Do I find this a little pricey? Yep! BUT, when I factor in the cost of my time, the price of the quality ingredients, the peace of mind of a consistently great end product.... well I actually think I'm saving money!

Not much banana flavor. 2nd time I made them I added 1/2 teaspoon banana extract & they were perfect. These are great in a pinch (muffins) but I prefer my recipe. Problem is I live an hour away from the nearest grocery store so buying fresh bananas doesn't happen that easily. Krusteaz is the only brand of any mix I will buy. As a professional chef I much prefer scratch...Krusteaz comes as close as you can get for a mix.

Only brand I buy. Easy and convenient for quick baking

They put pumpkin bread mix in banana bread boxes. I have made the banana bread version of this manufacturer and it tastes nothing like what's in the boxes I received. The boxes literally have pumpkin bread mix. If I could give zero stars I would. If I had wanted pumpkin bread I would have bought pumpkin bread but instead I got scammed.

Great quick banana bread

Product is easy to use. Bread is moist. BUT it tastes like sugar base with banana flavoring. So I read the label: 28% of RDA of sugar in one serving. Ouch. Also, the second ingredient is sugar: far far more sugar than in bread or made from scratch banana bread. I have been trying to reduce sugar, this almost got me to a sugar coma (ok I had 2 generous servings because it was new to me). Think of this as candy, not bread.
