Extra Large Yerba Mate Silicone Gourd and Bombilla Combo (14 Oz. Gourd) (Black on Black) by Yerba Supply

I had purchased some decorative styled metal mate cups while in Argentina, but I found that with the thick gourd lining inside, you could only get a few sips and then had to replenish with hot water again. It got tiresome. So I resorted to my usual tactic, and searched Amazon for an alternative. I found these large sized silicone mate cups and pulled the pin on an order for two of them. They arrived rapidly and fully met my expectations. They have a large capacity. They come with two metal mate straws. One is like a straw with a hollow perforated spoon on the end, and that's the one I use most of the time. The other is of the easy cleaning style. It looks like a cone shaped spring on the end of the metal drinking straw. You pull down on the "spring" to clean it thoroughly, and when ready to use it, you push the spring cone up onto the metal straw shaft again. Some have described the cup as being too flexible, due to it's silicone manufacture. I don't find that to be the case. I can hold it with one hand, and it's much firmer than silicone bakeware. So I personally don't have any problems with the flex of the sides of the cup. I love the notch in the lip in which you can faster the shaft of the drinking straw to hold it in place. I also find they're very easy to clean. Just rinse it out in the sink with hot running water. I compost the used yerba mate, and overall I find the cups both functional and convenient. And did I say I loved the large capacity? lol From a 42oz thermos, I can get about five refills and that fully uses up what the mate mixture will release. I highly recommend this if you're not hung up on having a mate gourd that looks traditional. Put the traditional one on a shelf for display, and use this for your daily brew. You'll be glad you did.

I really love the size of this gourd and basically I recommend it. The one issue I have is when you shake the Mate around you're trying to get the dust on your hand to remove the bitterness. Becauseof the gourds material the dust sticks to the inside of it. What I do is wet my finger and wipethe dust off the walls.

sice i bought 2 weeks ago, i had no problem with the pipe or the cup, it was a little bit big as I expected but does not matter sice I dont need to refill it with water.

The old gourds were prone to bacteria and never really got clean. This is an excellent way to drink mate. Mate drinking for the new gen.

Love this friggin thing. I'm a total caffeine addict, and this allows for more than enough rocket fuel to be ingested in a short amount of time. Meant for sharing, but I use it for myself and love the emboldened buzz of that much maté. It's a veritable vessel of productivity inspiring elixirs. Super easy to clean, doesn't leak or require seasoning, and it delivers a great portion of herbage every time.

I like this for Mate but since it's soft you do have to be careful that it doesn't buckle when you pick it up.

It is too big, you must use a lot of yerba mate just for one serving. It is unstable. I DO NOT recommend it, but it's on you.

Great gourd specially for hanging out with friends , definitely too big for a small mate in the morning :-)
