Sun Joe IONBV-CT Variable-Speed Cordless Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher, Light Green and Black

I have several other brand cordless blowers and they work well, but they do not vacuum. I needed something to vacuum up yard waste including plant cuttings from the garden, thus this purchase. I also own several other Sun Joe 40Volt cordless tools (pressure washer and compressor) so this was a great match for the batteries and charger I have already.First off the cons: This is pretty heavy and there is no shoulder strap available for it. At about 11 lbs plus the battery it starts getting very heavy when the bag gets filled. I suppose if you could wheel it on the included wheels it would be okay but lifting it to get the garden debris is a chore. I will improvise a carry strap to make operation less of a strain. Second is battery life is short when used on full power. If you cycle it on and off as we did the 5.0 aH battery made it about 20 minutes on full power vacuum mode. For many chores that is probably enough time and reducing power would obviously extend battery life. With the 4.0 aH battery run tile will be shorter and with the 6.0 aH batteries the run time is not considerably more.Pros are this works great. We vacuumed about 75-80 feet of lavender cuttings into two bags of mulched waste. The mulcher reduced the trimmings very well and I did find using only the shorter vacuum tube helped with maneuvering the unit to make pick up easier. The blower also works well.Finally, I do have some concern about the plastic mulching blade's longevity. It easily gobbled up the cuttings with no problem but I noted small 1/4" or so wood chips, which will always be inevitable in our garden, seemed to create quite the sound in the impeller. If the impeller breaks, it is covered under the Sun Joe warranty but here's hoping it has a long life.Conclusions are it is a well made unit and I am very pleased with it.

I have the 40 volt snow joe power snow shovel which came with a 4amp hour battery. I had a need to vacuum leaves along a fence and in front of my garage and didn’t want to use my craftsman gasoline vac anymore, due to the noise and smell. I bought the “core” blower/vac.It works okay as a blower. Definitely not the power of a gas blower and run time at max setting was about 15-20 minutes.I was impressed with the vac. I would say it works just as good as my craftsman gas vac. Run time is 15-20 minutes at full power.As long as the leaves are some what dry and not bigger than the intake it works very good. I love the idea of the wheels. Once you find the correct setting it helps with vacuuming. For the price of $89 it was well worth the price.

This thing is awesome as a vacuum! At first I bought a Black + Decker cordless leaf vacuum, and while I liked it for being small and half the weight, it lacked power, taking a very long time to clean up small messes. Then I bought a Husqvarna 125 BVx, and oh my goodness that thing is powerful! However, I still wanted something quieter and cleaner to use for lighter messes (and for when I don't want to smell like exhaust), and this Sun Joe is perfect for that. It is far more powerful than the Black + Decker. The B + D only comes with a 1.5 Ah battery, but I bought the Sun Joe with the 5 Ah battery. I chose this over the Greenworks because I saw the photo of the cracked impeller. The impeller on the Sun Joe is much larger and tougher-looking. Looking through the manufacturer responses to the 1-star reviews also made me feel more comfortable with trusting this brand. It looks like they really want to stand behind their product. I now have related battery-powered products by Dewalt, B + D, Greenworks, Kobalt, and now I'm glad to add a Sun Joe to my collection.A word of advice to increase battery life. Do not let the battery sit fully charged for long periods of time. Lithium ion batteries will die more quickly when stored at higher voltages. They like to be stored at around a 40% state of charge. I just don't charge the battery immediately after I use it. Just charge it before you use it. If you do that, your battery will last much longer.A couple suggestions for Sun Joe. I wish the switch was in an easier to access location for when I'm using it as a vacuum. I purchased this for use only as a vacuum, so I wish the controls were better positioned for vacuuming. It would also be helpful if a wider 12" nozzle was included. Using a hole to clean your driveway/yard can take a long time!

I take these reviews serious. Below is my initial review. It was based on my best impressions of the product at the time. Since then I have been made aware by the company of a SPEED CONTROL nob built-in on the machine. Now I appreciate that I was unfair in my first review of two stars. Accepting that I'm a fairly typical man when it comes to reading instructions. I would have never guessed the control. Moreover, I have other products from this company; so now I'm not surprised that this control is included. I could have never guessed that instead of several hundred reviews, but the only one. I hope this maricopa balance the matter. I recommend this for power and excellent battery life."Was looking forward to blower, own other Joe products. Built great. Much heavier than I expected. Primary disappointed with the output velocity. Was expecting much more based on battery power. Intent to have all run on same power source. But 18v BD blower far more effective, but little stamina."
