Q: How long can this filter be used in the coffee maker? are they compatible with the breville touch coffee maker

Breville suggests changing the filter every 3 months, which we did. The filter is exactly like the one that came with the Espresso Touch.

Q: What does “in” and “out” mean on the water filter time dial? Do I set current month to in? Or to the middle?

Set it to the current month. Depending on your machine it should tell you when the filter needs to be replaced.

Q: Do we know it actually works and is not a scam?

I opened up this filter after I replaced it, and also opened up the manufacture's brand filter. They are virtually identical inside, with a similar-looking blend of charcoal and resin particles. This one was sealed a bit tighter and harder to open, but all of the parts were otherwise identical. For half the price, this looks like a very good choice.
