Petzl ROLLCLIP Z Pulley Screwlock Carabiner

This combination of a reliable carabiner and a personal-use pulley [not for heavy rigging] in one piece is elegant, right down to the red color lock indicator, and the perfectly designed and matched pulley sheave and block it sits in. The Rollclip feels solid, runs smooth, and reduces the number of pieces needed. However, Petzl, the renowned manufacturer, might check the gnarled crosshatch on the barrel locking nut for grabbing fibers.

This elegant piece of gear replaces the usual locking carabiner + SMC CRx pulley (x2 or x3) used to set up a Z-drag. Same weight, but smaller form that tucks away into a PFD pocket much easier. So much more compact to carry 3 of these instead of 3 pulleys + 3 locking carabiners.The only thing to keep in mind is these are not prusik minding (helpful if one of them is in a Z-drag). Easy enough to improvise, though. I use a 2” plastic disc with a hole in it that the rope passes through (looks like a washer).

Nice biner. Lightweight and smooth. The screw lock operates smoothly and the red unlock indicator quickly reminds you to lock the gate. The only gripe I have is the side to side play on the sheeve that IMO does not compromise the biner. I use it on a RAD system for Hi Angle rope rescue.

Nice way to add mechanical advantage to a rope ascending kit. Lightweight and replaces 2 pieces of gear

The caribiener is great, very useful with ascenders, makes climbing a rope easy and safe

Good design and ideal for a minimalist rescue setup. The fact that the pulley is integrated saves me from needing to keep track of one when I need it.
