How to avoid tangling?

In short, there is no way to completely avoid tangling. Unfortunately, synthetic wigs tangle fairly easily and can be harder to comb out than many types of natural hair. These are some things that have helped me. 1. Don't use hair products. They make the synthetic strands crunchy and sticky which causes tangling. If you do use products, wash your wig regularly. Wash it whenever it is dirty for the same reason. 2. Handle it gently. Flipping, tossing, or shaking it around (either while its on your head or you are holding it) will increase the amount of tangles you collect. So will wind, running your hand through it, bending down and then back up a lot, etc. Consider wearing a head covering (like a hat or bandana) to help limit the movement of the hair if you will need to be active or its windy. 3. Store it on a stand. I use a foam head and an old camera tripod. If you toss it into a box, bag, or onto a surface when you are done wearing it, it WILL get messy. 4. Gently brush through the wig regularly with a wig-safe comb or brush. Because synthetic strands can have more stubborn snarls, you don't want them to build up! I also find that the more tangles I have the more likely it seems that I will get more tangles. Focus on a small section of hair at a time to make sure it is thoroughly detangled. Also, it is important to brush from tip to root rather than in long strokes from the top of your head to the tip. Essentially, this helps ensure that you aren't trying to brush tangles at the top into the tangles at the bottom creating one massive super tangle. 5. Make sure that, when brushing, you don't tear or roughly comb through snarls. This can cause frizzing, waving, or curling which also increases how easily it tangles. I've heard using Pantene brand shampoo and conditioner when cleaning synthetic wigs helps (I personally haven't tried it and I'm not sure why that particular brand is recommended). Also, I know some people use detangler on their wigs but, again, I don't personally use it so I couldn't say if it's good for the wig or whether it helps. Good luck!

Are you able to add low heat to the hair?

I didn't try using heat. As far as I know, yes, medium heat. The wig is well made, the "hair" falls into place easily. I honestly don't see the need for curl. Please read the manufacturers instructions.
