Easy to print, nice-looking matte finish
I originally purchased this because it's supposed to be a close match to Milwaukee Tool red. I wanted to make some accessories for my garage to organize my bits and pieces, and so far it definitely appears it's a nice match for the matte red color that Milwaukee uses on its tools. And, at $20/kg, it doesn't break the bank compared to some premium or specialty filaments out there. Aside from liking the red color and matte finish, I had excellent experiences with this filament: • Printed with a 0.5mm hardened steel nozzle, I used nozzle at 220°C, bed at 50°C • If adhesion is an issue, which I ran into when printing lines only 2 walls thick with no infill or other connections, I did need a light film of purple glue stick. That stuck down very well. • Stringing was nearly nonexistent for me. I had a tiny bit of light fuzz where retractions and travel moves happened, but that was it. I can easily burn that off with a quick touch of a torch. • Cardboard spool is a great touch to cut down on plastic trash in landfills. • Polymaker also supplies technical info on testing and composting for their PLA filament. I haven't tested for dimensional accuracy, but that's not a major concern for my use cases. There's probably enough tolerance in my printer's movements and belts that I wouldn't notice a huge difference anyway. The matte finish is excellent. It has just a small amount of sheen, but definitely isn't glossy except for the bottom layer on a smooth PEI bed. Overall, I'm very happy with this filament. It is excellent value for the price, and I've already ordered more to continue organizing my garage workspace. Update 6/19/2024: I've continued using this filament for various battery and tool holders, and it has been excellent. Prints well, nearly zero stringing, no clogs, no tangles, the cardboard spools have been fine. Overall, it's my go-to filament for my tool-related projects.

One of the rare cases where something works perfectly
Normally, I don't go out of my way to write a review unless I really feel like a product deserves it. This is one of the few cases where something works perfectly and does exactly what it claims to do. I am honestly shocked at how good prints with this have come out. I don't have a picture to attach at the moment, but I printed a little cat sculpture model I found online as a test and I was totally blown away by how smooth it looked and felt. So far, every single print I have made with this stuff has come out smooth with no visible layer lines even with a 0.6mm extruder. It's not even just that it *looks* smooth, it even *feels* smooth. I was expecting this to let me down but instead it has totally exceeded my expectations and has been consistently producing high quality, smooth, prints that don't even feel like they were 3D printed. Tl;dr: it does exactly what it advertises and does it extremely well. If you're for some reason on the fence about this filament and are skimming through reviews, just buy it. It's totally worth it. I was able to use the preset for PolyTerra PLA in OrcaSlicer and have been getting flawless prints. I'm using a Flashforge ADM5 Pro for my printer but comparing this to other filaments I believe this can likely achieve flawless prints on any printer and does not seem to have any issues with stringing or adhesion. I recommend using a textured plate as it gives a nice texture on the bottom surface of the print that totally hides any hint of layer lines on the bottom. The only issue I encountered with this filament is that it adhered to my plate a little too well, so when I had a print fail after the first layer because of a printer issue it was extremely difficult to remove this stuff from the plate. In terms of completing a print, this is definitely a pro as I have no worries about it detaching during the print... but if for some reason you need to remove this after one or two layers be prepared for a fight lol

Very good stuff. Love the color. Love the finish. Would absolutely buy this again.
Prints beautifully, clean, the blackest black. Has a carbon filament look to it. In direct light, almost looks dark gray. The matte finish is sublime. It hides all sorts of sins in the print. When I got this, it was sealed in a bag. Didn't even dry it. Just threw it into the printer and did a 7 hour print. Works so well. Just an outstanding filament. So easy to work with, and makes beautiful prints. The default profile for the Polymaker PLA in Orca works just fine. I tried to capture a few pics of the surface finish, but it's so smooth the camera can't focus on it.

Never had any issues with polymaker.
Can't really go wrong with polymaker. No tangling, quality youd expect from polymaker. Prints really good. The color is consistent. Yes you pay for that but come on... its not that much more for ease of use.

Good Value, but has some downsides ..
First, let's talk about the actual filament material. It seems great. It comes out matte (using Matte Gray .. Grey for most other English countries), which allows for consistent sheen no matter what temperature or speed you print at (something gloss PLA's struggle with). I've been able to get some really good-looking parts with it. Side note, I've been able to print it very fast on the X1C using a forked PolyMaker profile (has max volumetric set at 22 mm³/s). Material property wise seems to line up with what PolyMaker says, it has slightly more flexibility in terms of resisting a bend, but it's also very stiff, so be sure to design your parts to have the proper geometry to allow for flexing if you need that property, right angles will elongate (discolor) slightly before the material fails. All that seems great, why 4 out of 5 stars? I docked a star because PolyMaker still has a wide tolerance threshold of +/- 0.05mm when many other manufacturers at this price point are promising (and delivering) +/- 0.02mm. My roll measured 1.78mm at the beginning and 1.77mm with periodic 1.76mm measurements about halfway through it. That may not seem like much, but it's enough to add little defects to a print as the slicer can't compensate since 3d Printers don't have a filament diameter feedback loop (yet?), it all has to be precalculated. This becomes more evident if you're using Archane instead of Classic Mode, because dimensional accuracy plays a bigger roll for thinner features. This inconsistency is why I docked it a star.

Beautiful Surface Finish - Some Warping on Large Parts Only
Ordered Polymer Matte PLA in Charcoal Black for the first time. Ran the first prints without drying on a Bamboo X1 Carbon using the included profile in the Bambu slicer. The print quality and surface finish are amazing. Looks like a professional injection molded part. One of the best materials I've ever printed. Immediately purchased two more spools. I will note that on large parts, there is significant warping that I had to correct with part geometry and print settings. Small parts do not have this problem. My understanding is that this is typical of matte finish PLA.

Nice filament
Prints fine and with nice color. No issues on a Snapmaker U1 (I believe Snapmaker filament is made by Polymaker so I expected it to work well).

Great filament!
This my 2nd favorite brand. More due to price, and color choices. The quality is excellent, works great in my Bambu and the matte colors hide layers well.

top quality - would recommend
consistent prints no layer issues or bed adhesion. best run at 190 hot end and 50 bed for an anycubic. did a bunch of tests and those were the optimum settings

Good Filament, mediocre spools
The filament is great, but the cardboard spools are problematic. If you are using a system where the spool goes on a peg or hook it is probably fine but the Bambu AMS rolls the spools from the outer edge and bexaise they are cardboard they get bent in shipping often, and then them being uneven stresses the feeder until it quites and has to be reset. Going forward I'll only buy panchroma refills and put them on the hard plastic spools I have leftover from some sunlu PLA.
