The capsule worked great for the first several days but then became difficult to get the cap off. Last time used the cap would not come off at all. It's like it is welded shut. I cannot get it off even using pliers. As others have stated, the size of the capsule is small compared to the original Illy capsule and fits in the holder very loosely. It is a solid capsule but not really engineered to fit the Illy very well, and as mentioned, tends to lock up - SEVERELY.

I had my Illy X1 in 2013. I enjoyed the expresso but decided to put my X1 to the garage because of the price of the capsules. At that time, I couldn't find any appropriate refillable capsule. I even cut the Illy capsules just like the videos on Youtube. But it didn't work. Until this year, I found this refillable capsule. The quality is extremely good. The capsule is heavy (comparing to its size) and well-made. It fits my X1 perfectly. I purchased this set first and tried a few times. Finally, I got another capsule for my family so I can make two shots consecutively. Depending on the fineness of coffee powder, the producing espresso is competitive with the Illy capsules.One tip is that if the capsule is stuck on your Illy machine, put the handle back and pull up a little bit. Then the capsule will be loose from the machine. This happened to my machine for the first time, but only once.

So was really wanting this to work. I ordered it tried to use it and the darn thing acts like it's clogged. No big deal right? Just run it without espresso in it and it works fine. Tried loading espresso lightly packed, firmly packed and loose unpacked. Nope unless you want hot water don't waste your money.

Quality build. It took forever to get this product, but it was worth the wait. Excellent product and craftsmanship. I wish it came with spare O rings. Works well with my Illy.

The size of 'Capsulone metal capsule' is small comparing to the size of original illy capsule. It is not engineered very well.The metal capsule should be designed to host the same coffee amount comparing to the one inside original illy capsule.The square gaps in the bottom of filter are not designed to produce very fine and smooth espresso, I had to remove the filter from the original illy capsule and put in the bottom but that decrease the size of the container. It is very expensive, and money should be returned back unless you will build another design and send replacement.

I like the durability of this product. I dislike the price. I also dislike that I have to manually stop at my illy espresso machine when I use this product. it fits illy Y3.2, but it makes less coffee with less water (less than espresso), I try several times.

I have the Illy 7.1 and this item worked exactly like it should. I put the gasket on it so it doesn't wiggle in the port-a-filter and it fit/worked perfectly. I used espresso ground coffee from the grocery store. The tamper is a nice addition. LOVE this item !

For the reviewer who gave it 1 star: you have to put the filter on the bottom, and then it won't clog.Makes you machine work without the very environmentally-unfriendly hard plastic pods. Great construction, but be patient until you figure out exactly how to use it. only 4 stars, because it makes a touch weaker espresso than the plastic pods (mind you, I haven't experimented with differently roasted beans yet, only Parallel 49 coffee here in Canada). I'd still recommend if you're looking for a sensible solution.Pros:- solidly built: this thing will last a long time- relatively easy to clean (I just run it under the tap water until all grinds are rinsed out)Cons:- you have to experiment to get the right strength of espresso. まずマニュアルが不親切すぎて満足のいく抽出ができるまでに1ヶ月かかり、やっと使えるようになったと思ったら今度は蓋が開かなくなり二度と使えなくなった。抽出後すぐは非常にポッドが熱いので冷たくなるまで放置していたら開かなくなった。抽出後、長時間放置しないようになどとはマニュアルには記載されていないので、出品者に開け方を質問したが回答は無し。結局1ヶ月ほどしか使用できなかった。安い買い物ではないのにいい加減にして欲しい。日本語のレビューが無いようなのでこのレビューが皆さんのお役に立つことを祈ります。

This is a well machined capsule that fits very well into my Y5 Duo. I'm still experimenting with different coffees, but I just ordered my second capsulone because I like to make lattes with a double shot, and it's a bit of a pain to clean my single one out, dry it and refill it for the second shot. Here's a little tip: instead of using the fine mess screen that comes with it, cup open a few of your used Illy iperEspresso capsules and remove the reddish disks from them. I wash them and put one inside the capsulone instead of the mesh. It gives a much better crema and taste profile. It's a tight fit put if you bend it slightly (like a taco), it'll pop in, and when you go to wash it, it floats under the running water so you can pull it out the same way. Rewash it and reuse it as well.
