Levoit Classic300 Ultrasonic Top Fill Humidifier, Extra Large 6L Tank, 60H

Update: discovered the leak issue was apparently my mistake. I had moved the humidifier a few inches by picking it up by the water reservoir indented handles. Apparently this was enough to break the pressure seal between the tank and the base. Took the unit apart, checked the float, which was operating fine, and refilled the humidifier. Marked the water level with a crayon and left it in the kitchen sink overnight. Leak had stopped and no water lost. This was operator error on my part. If you have moved your humidifier when water is in the reservoir using the indented handles, there is a risk of leaks developing around the water reservoir and the base. As precaution, I placed a dollar store cake storage pan under the humidifier just in case. Changing my review to five stars. Very happy with the quiet operation, ease of cleaning, affordable replacement filters, and it's ability to raise humidity in our 12' x 15' family room. Purchased four of this model as I trust the brand. Two were sent as gifts, and two are in our home. One began leaking two weeks from purchase. We are adults,no pets, humidifier is on the carpet and stays there. We don't walk through that area. Use soft water only and clean it every few days. Will contact Levoit. We absolutely love the compact shape, easy to clean, basic design. It is quiet and made a great difference in the humidity comfort level. It really does cover the square footage claimed. Other than it leaks, we really like it, but am hesitant to replace the leaking one with the same model. We also bought two Levoit bedroom humidifiers, round 2 liters, and they are fantastic.

2-3 years ago wife and I bought a humidifier, which kicked the bucket during last spring. I fixed it myself by building my own power supply for it. However, it decided to kick the bucket again for another reason in mid December. Not being from the midwest, or the US, I struggle a lot with the dry air in the winter and so not having a humidifier was not an option. We spent a week coming up with products on amazon, but we never settled on any. On a whim, I purchased this one and got it next day (I'm a Prime member). I had stocked up on distilled water for this little guy prior to it arriving, so we could get it set up and running as soon as it came in. Opening the package I was impressed, the product was very well packaged and came with a buttload of instructions and filters for essential oils (which we wont use). Set up took about 5 minutes, it's pretty basic stuff. It took 1 and a half gallons of distilled water to fill it to the brim. From full, it takes about 4 days or so to go through that much water. Yet, it still puts out a good thick amount of mist. Astonishing to me, we were refilling the old humidifier daily. This one is much easier to fill too. What I like though, is just how sleek this thing looks on our dresser. It fits right in with everything else. We've had no leaking or dripping that other reviewers have had, it's very quiet too. The display can be turned off pretty easily if it's too bright for you at night. There is no filter for the water like some other models, which I knew when I bought it. So you really should use distilled water for this or you could have issues with calcium build up or white dust/flakes using regular tap water. For me personally, I definitely have noticed a drastic improvement in air quality in the bedroom. With the output on this thing though, it's definitely suitable for a larger room such as a living room. We just use it in the bedroom, as we were waking up with dry mouths and noses. If you're on the fence about this product, it has my stamp of approval. I've included a photo to show the size of the product. Be aware, you should provide some space to the rear, and left of the product as it vents air from there - which is why we have a little space besides our unit.

Updated Levoit replaced the product at no additional cost. The issues with the original product are not a problem. I will update accordingly if that changes. Suggestion for potential buyers: Immediately test the tank for leaks. It's a good product if you get one that is not faulty. -- Original Review Below -- Positives The humidifier is easy to use and works well (before the base overflows due to a tank leak from a faulty seal/spring mechanism). Issues - The product is reasonably quiet but there is a whine to it. You may get used it over time but there's definitely an odd pitched sound. Critical Issues - The water tank leaks. I added a cup of water to the tank and let it sit on the counter for 10 minutes. At least a tablespoon of water had leaked out. This explains how the base chamber overflowed over time. I did not notice this for some time as the leak is slow and under normal operation just enough water is consumed. - The customer support form on the Levoit website does not work! I do not wish to track them down via social media but it may be the only alternative. I will adjust my review if/when Levoit responds to this issue.

An elder relative needed a humidifier for a large room and I looked at a lot of them here at Amazon. I've used many humidifiers in the past, and thus know quite a bit about them. Eventually, I decided on this one, even though it's pretty expensive, and I had never even heard of the Levoit brand. It was a good choice, though. It's easy to fill, easy to clean, turns itself off when empty, and has a very useful and easy front menu screen. There are three mist speeds to choose from; the choice of cold or warm mist, with three heat selections; an auto mode where the humidifier will turn itself off and on depending on the humidity level; a red low water symbol, etc. So far, the warm mist has only been used for one cold night on the second heat setting. It didn't seem to make any difference to the room temperature, and I think it didn't work as well as the cool mist, so only the cool mist has been used since that time. (Hard water tap water is being used.) The level choices are good, and the two top nozzle vents can be turned in any direction that you want, or in two different directions. It is very easy to fill, but is very heavy when filled. (My elder relative would not be able to fill this even halfway and flip it, due to the weight.) There is no top filling, either. I didn't know why at least one of the reviews stated there was, but then saw there are two different humidifiers being sold on this page. (My review is for the black one that does not connect to Wi-Fi.) The hydrometer reading on the screen always either exactly matches; or is one, two or three numbers off; the reading of a ThermoPro hydrometer that is in the room. All in all, it's one of the best, if not the best, humidifier I have ever seen. P.S. The amount of time a tank of water lasts is nowhere near what the description states. On the lowest mist level, it has to be filled at least once a day. The auto setting has never been used, however, so I don't know if that would make any difference. P.P.S. 12/11/21: In the second winter with this humidifier. I think it's the best one I have ever bought. Cleaning and disinfecting it can seem like a chore, but it's really not that much work. I actually don't do it that often, but do smell the mist to make sure there is no mold smell. Talking about smell, I put peppermint oil on the essential oil pad for the first time this season, and there is very little peppermint scent. Maybe that only works when using warm mist, something I think is not helpful at all. Cool mist does the job, and is safer because there is nothing heating up and staying hot. Highly recommend this humidifier!

A very good and powerful humidifier for its size. The little guy is still tricking along at probably close to 6 months in. It runs pretty much 24/7, unless the temps are above freezing and there’s a melt-off occurring outside. But so long as the days are dry? Regardless of temps? It runs. Noise levels are manageable. It’s very silent, but louder for some reason with the heat on I feel. You won’t notice it much unless reading in a silent room. It sounds like a tea kettle when it’s in the very early stages of hissing but with tinier and more rapid bubble sounds. Very quiet with heat turned off. Make sure to set this thing up high, on a small table if using the highest mist level, or extended time in use. If it’s on the floor with not but a mat under it? To keep the carpet fibers and dust out? The humidity collects on the floor and the carpet will start to stink. That said? The fan could stand to be more powerful, to shoot the mist up higher but then there’s risk of loudness, so that is why it is this way. No problem, just put it on an end table. The second problem the falling mist presents is that the humidifier instantly thinks that it’s reached humidity levels: The room could be 28% humidity when you first turn it on and instantly it’s seeing a raise to 34%. Only thing you can do is set the humidity 5-10% higher. On aggressively cold dry days like the example I listed above, using a mist level setting of 2 is ideal. The setting of 3 falls too heavy like a mist waterfall and doesn’t disperse into the atmosphere much. If using a setting of 3, make sure you have it up at least 2 feet off the ground. I personally set kind to 50% humidity so that 5% can serve as a buffer a bit since the moisture seems to fall run onto the sensor fairly fast, causing it to think it’s about 5-8% higher than it is. This is why I wish I could offset by less than 5% steps. I’d probably use a setting of about 53%.

This humidifier has been performing great so far and humidifies the room quickly. The warm and cool mist options are really convenient and useful for different seasons. The built in sensor with auto mode makes maintaining a comfortable humidity level effortless, without needing constant adjustments. I also love the black color, along with the timer and remote control they add a lot of convenience. It runs quietly, works efficiently, and is very easy to use. I’m extremely happy with this purchase, and the reusable filter is a great value for the money as well!

Things good and accurate: 1) Easy to use 2) Quiet 3) Versatile - can do warm or cold mist 4) Display bright and tells you instantly what's set 5) Alternates between showing desired humidity and what the machine thinks it is 6) Easy enough bottom water fill tank 7) No leaks yet (knock on wood) 8) Remote works and is easy to use 9) Display can be turned off totally, only when out of water does the display show a small red water light (not that bright btw) 10) Auto-shutoff when out of water and it's really is as there is very little water left in the tank 11) Dual mist directors to allow two different streams 12) Decent controls of temp of warm steam, strength of mist flow, humidity level Things not so good: 1) It is a bottom fill tank which requires removing the tank constantly, longevity issue maybe? We were aware beforehand 2) Humidistat has lots of issues knowing what the humidity level really is in a room 3) The strength of the steam is controllable, however to be more effective it needed to be on high which meant the unit turned off before a 8 hour sleep timeframe was up, no idea how long it lasted, but it was off at 7 hours Things to be aware of: 1) When out of water and the display is off, you cannot do anything with the display and shouldn't because the unit is off, wait until you put the filled tank back on 2) When removing the tank keep it in the same position because tipping it releases what little water is still left (again, not much is left, just a little mess to clean up) 3) The lowest humidity % you can set is 40%, again aware of prior to buying The reason for the ding in rating is that despite this unit being highly rated the humidistat is WAAAAY too finicky when using warm mist. One second it's 39%, then 28% and the next it's 43% and the machine turns off. Then the humidity % drops enough to kick back on and we start over. This all is highly susceptible to air currents and even people coming near or walking by. Yes, the unit turns back on within a minute because the humidity level drops (to where it should be), but this can't be efficient operation in terms of energy and water usage. Maybe because the humidistat is at the front left side of the unit. This also means you can't direct the mist streams to the left which caused it to really turn off and on frequently. This really renders this unit less than useful in our large bedroom because we have a fan on overnight and this unit cannot get the humidity level to our true desired humidity level (yes, we have a separate hygrometer). It does raise it some, so not totally useless, however not to the level desired. We want the minimum of 40% and we only reached 30% after hours of running as a daytime test in the bedroom. As an experiment we used it for a tank full in another room all day with little interference from currents or people walking by with the warm mist. It was much more effective and consistent in this decent sized room and agreed with the hygrometer 90% of the time. However, when I walked by, opened the garage entry door (12 feet away) or did activity behind the unit (reading newspaper, sitting up and down, etc), it did the same inaccurate and fluctuating humidity detection causing the unit to not achieve the desired level. And as mentioned the unit can 360 direct mist, but the left front is where the humidistat is and that's not a good place to direct it. We never experienced the steam being too hot to burn us nor did we notice any water accumulation around the unit. One last thing, the cool mist was only tested a little as we wanted warm mist. We believe the cool mist had a better chance due to not using as much water and the mist didn't seem to be as disruptive in the humidity level. However, this was only a short test of the unit as the beginning and was not tested further in any detail so keep that in mind. We wanted warm mist functionality and only warm (for a bedroom) and so we are returning it for that reason.

Great small room humidifier! Used it through the winter. Definitely use distilled water because using tap water, even if it’s not all that “hard,” will cause white powder to get all over everything. Found that out the hard way and switched to distilled. Easy to clean. Love that it’s just one button you turn for on and off which is also adjustable (goes from low to high and anything inbetween). I don’t want “smart” appliances or digital interfaces…simple is always best. Really helped the humidity level in the bedroom (keeping door closed), with a humidity level of between 40 and 50%.

Cumple con su objetivo. Es silencioso, y bastante eficaz. Consume muy poca agua, ya que pulveriza perfectamente el vapor. Se puede utilizar con vapor frío y caliente.
