By far the best outdoor volleyball - PERIOD!
I am a volleyball addict and I play 2 to 3 times a week indoor during Fall and Spring, and in Summer I play outdoor sand courts on Tuesdays and Thursdays at different locations.I own about 10 different volleyballs for different occasions such as indoor recreation/competition, outdoor sand/grass, pool volleyball, volley tennis, and for coaching children.THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST OUTDOOR VOLLEYBALL - PERIOD!The texture of this volleyball just feels amazing when setting, bumping, and spiking. It doesn't sting your forearms and it has the perfect weight, which is a bit heavier than indoor volleyballs to account for the wind. With this ball, you have the total control when passing and setting with minimal influence by outdoor condition - if you know how to play volleyball that is 😉That's why it's a no surprised to see so many Spalding King of the Beach volleyballs when I go play outdoor because many people show up with this ball as their own volleyball.BOTTOM LINE:If you are serious about playing outdoor volleyball, whether it's sand or grass, look no further and get this ball. You will never look back and look for other balls after you play with this one.5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended for outdoor volleyball without any hesitation. You're welcome.

This Is How A Beach Volleyball Should Be Built !
We are a group of middle aged men who play volleyball on a sand court every weekend. Our game is certainly not a top professional quality but our passion for the game certainly is. We have played our games in ice cold winds, rains and hot Summers Of Florida.WHAT WE STARTED WITH:Initially we played with Wilson Official AVP Outdoor Game Volleyball but it hurt the hand and somehow it was never pleasant to play with. Ever since switching the ball to Spalding in 2012 never have we looked back. The original ball Spalding 72-083 Official Volleyball of King of the Beach and USA Beach Tour which was much cheaper at $37 was discontinued and replaced with this expensive version.WHY IT IS BETTER :First and foremost, the ball has a pleasant feel that only a player can attest to. The sand court is surrounded by lush green grass which carries lots of moisture from overnight dew and from Sprinklers. Every now and then, the ball rolls into the grass and yet does not get too heavy ( compared to Wilson) and a quick wipe with a towel, it gets back to it's original. Even the sand that sticks on the ball is relatively less which irritates the eyes if not properly dusted. Going by the 2012 model, the ball also has enough longevity.SUMMARY:Eat , Pray, Love And Volleyball .... And the ball should be Spalding !

There's a difference between this KOB and a real KOB volleyball
I have a real Spalding KOB volleyball and when compared to this one, there's definitely a difference. The real Spalding KOB is softer and the ridges are more defined, came deflated in an original box. This one came in a plain cardboard box and comes pre-inflated. I don't mind the pre-inflated (although it was over inflated). The quality is not too bad, but not worth the $50 the authentic ball is worth.

Best ball for outdoors
I run a large Meetup grass volleyball group and have gone through dozens of volleyballs over the past 10 years. While the Wilson AVP is a good ball, the Spalding KOB is our primary choice. The KOB is pretty durable and I prefer how it handles the wind. The only negatives is quality control. One ball out of every 15 or so will fail to hold air. I was able to return those for replacement, so not a huge hassle.

It's hard and hurts your fingers
We used to play with the Wilson AVP Game Volleyball but we lost it one day. At that time the price for the Wilson ball was $20 more than usual. I saw this ball also have a very good review and the price was good. So I bought it instead of the Wilson ball. This ball was sold by Amazon, not from a 3rd party, and I paid $44.99 before tax. Here are the bad things: 1. The bladder sticks out. 2. The surface is kind of rough and hard. It hurts your fingers. 3. The ball is kind of light.

Both are great but the Spalding has a slightly better texture
Flagship beach volleyball. The only reason you are reading reviews on this ball is to decide between this and the Wilson AVP series. Both are great but the Spalding has a slightly better texture, and I have to agree that it seems to do better in the wind. It does lose air faster than the Wilson so get a pump, though...a small sacrifice for a better user experience (which is more important in my book)

This is a different ball!
I am concerned that the ball I received is not a true King of the Beach ball. I have been playing with the KOB ball for years now and this one feels different (much harder, no cushion).NOTE: After a couple months of use, I bought the same type of ball from a different company. The other supplier's ball is significantly different. The panels on the ball are different. The one from Amazon is made in Vietnam and the one from the other supplier is made in China. The other supplier seems like the ball I've been used to for the past ten years.

Best Sand Volleyball made
There's a lot of sand volleyballs out there, but this one is the most popular everywhere I've played (mostly Florida and New Jersey). It looks, feels like the old leather ball but doesn't develop the "shaped like an egg" syndrome the leathers got. Probably a couple of grams heavier than the AVP or AVP II ball but that's a good thing, especially in the wind. Unlike (IMHO) the AVP ball it's a volleyball players ball and NOT something branded mostly to generate revenue. This is probably the best synthetic ball ever made...if you're serious about your sand volleyball then get one!
