2016 Ford Explorer key replacement - read reviews -
This worked perfectly for our Ford. The previous factory key had fallen too many times and this fit everything perfectly. It's harder than the original to press buttons but that could be due to user error when installing. I don't mind the harder press though as it feels and works fine. There is not a FORD logo on the back so if that's important just be aware. You do have to transfer the chip and the internal key, I recommend watching a youtube video if you're struggling but this was a great purchase.

Great OEM Replacement
The key ring holder on my 2016 F150 Lariat on the fob had broken off. I had to use tape to keep it on, which made the panic button thicker, so it was always going off when I leaned against something. I was at vet holding my uncooperative dog, and the alarm went off, and I couldn’t reach down to turn it off. I had had enough. I went to the dealer, and they could only offer a whole new key fob, with programming would have been $250. This was a cost effective solution for a bad design.I used the circuit board from the original fob, and put it in the new fob. Two pieces on the original fob that the new fob didn’t come with was a small foam square used to press against the chip on the top of the circuit board, and the separator for the 2 batteries. I removed both pieces, and placed them in the new fob. I had to put a drop of glue on the foam piece to get it to stay in place. The new fob is identical to the original, and all functions work perfectly. The fit was a little tight, but no modification was needed.

Does the job but fitment does not match OEM part. It's your only replacement option.
I received the 5 button version for a 2017 f-150. It is essentially the same as the OEM case with lower quality injection molding, and possibly (?) a non-metallic ring holder. I was able to move the old microchip over to the new housing with a bit of work.Docking one star for how difficult it was to install the guts into the housing. It took a lot of fiddling to get everything to sit in the housing such that it would close completely. When everything is aligned the buttons work fine, however it took a lot of patience and force to get the clamshell to close. Before my final attempt I was prepared to return this product. Expect to need to pry this thing apart when its time to change batteries, which in turn will probably crack the housing at the key ring sooner than stock. I think this comes down to looser tolerances on the injection molding--so your sample might be better or worse in this regard.

50/50 For Me
I bought 2 to change out my truck key fobs. One works great. The other silver part where the keychain is won’t stay together.

Clip that Locks Case Together Doesn’t Work
Complete disappointment. The internal components fit in the shell perfectly, but the plastic clip that controls the shell release button is not the same as the original. It is far too loose. It will not stay “locked” in place and the slightest brush against the button will release the button causing the shell to come apart. The original has a lot of tension and will not release unless you hold the button down and pull the shell apart.I would have returned the case for a refund but the issue I had with the old, original case (besides it looking worn and beat up) is that the plastic part where the key ring went on, cracked off. So I was able to use the original back of the shell with the new front to make one case that is complete. So for my immediate needs, I was able to make half the new case work with half my old case to suit my needs and get my remote back in order. For that reason, I will keep the case. But if you are looking for a full replacement case, you may need up being disappointed with the quality of the shell.

Worked for my Explorer
The grey loop on the end of my key fob for my 2016 Ford Explorer broke off and I couldn’t get it to reattach, so I ordered this shell . It is a little stiffer than the original, meaning that the buttons need to be pressed a little harder, but it’ll probably loosen up over time.I transferred everything inside the old fob into the new shell, I.e., I only used the outer shell and nothing else.Except for being a little stiff, it works perfectly and is a better, lower cost solution as opposed to buying an entire new key fob. Other than not sporting the Ford logo, it looks just like the original. Very pleased with this replacement, highly recommended!
