Getting better at doing my part without sacrificing quality
I, like many of the previous reviewers, really liked the idea of an environmentally responsible laundry detergent. I would have preferred a sample size as a try-before-you-buy rather than forking over nearly $30 for 140 pods that I may or may not like, but so far I am not disappointed with my purchase. Previous reviewers mentioned that the casing of the pod does not dissolve in cold water. I don't wash in any other temperature so I just did what we do with all the pods we've ever purchased and swished it around in the water by hand before adding clothes. The casing was either not dissolving or dissolving VERY slow. Rather than take a chance due to some of the other reviews, after all the detergent had been released from the capsule I pulled the casing and threw it in the garbage. I'm not happy about trying to be eco-smart and then throwing away something that I'm not totally convinced is going to break down, but I did not want to have the issue others have mentioned where the casing glues to their clothing. The smell is very light and clean, not overpowering or perfumed at all. I found it very pleasant and my clothes kept that scent even after drying with nothing but unscented wool dryer balls (also a first time thing). How effective are these at cleaning your clothes? The clothing I washed in my trial load were: 1 set of cycling bib shorts worn for a 20 mile ride, 1 pair of yoga capris worn for a 4 mile walk, 2 quick-drying athletic shirts worn for the above activities, a pair of underwear, and 2 pairs of socks. I live in southern Florida and it is hot and humid so any physical activity can create a lot of moisture and odor. I washed my load on medium load size, tap cold wash, and used the heavily soiled cycle. I used one laundry pod and, as noted above, dissolved it in the water by hand before adding clothes. When the cycle was complete, I did the smell test. The chamois on my bike shorts and the armpits of my shirts smelled fresh with no lingering odors whatsoever. I am VERY impressed. I have not worn any of my clothes yet so I cannot speak in regard to skin irritations or allergic reactions, but I've known people that couldn't use Tide or they broke out in hives (and had no known allergies prior to this) so I would imagine some people may be sensitive to this as well. So far I am very pleased with my purchase and can't wait to try the dishwasher pods (I still haven't convinced my boyfriend that dishwashers are unnecessary lol).

cruelty-free, plastic-free and bio sourced
CRUELTY FREE, PLASTIC-FREE (confimed) & bio-sourced. Wonderful company! This product as as good or better than the best laundry pod on the market. I did a large load that had odors and it came out fresh, clean and wonderful smelling! Like Other reviewers, I suggest 3 pods for a normal load and 4-5 for large or super soiled loads. They are small pods, but powerful. I wanted to be sure the company didn’t use plastic in their “casing” surrounding each pod, so I emailed them. They got back to me right away with this: “ The casing (film) on Dropps laundry and dishwasher capsules is made from PVOH (Polyvinyl Alcohol). This isn’t traditional plastic—it’s a water-soluble polymer that dissolves completely during use, so the active ingredients stay off your skin and there’s no mess. Dropps has thoroughly tested this material for biodegradability and environmental safety, and there’s no microplastic formation as defined by California state standards. PVOH is also listed in the EPA’s CleanGredients database and meets Safer Choice standards, highlighting its environmental credentials. In addition, all packaging is recyclable paperboard, not plastic, aligning with a commitment to reducing single-use plastics.” Great company…great product….great for animals, your family and the earth.

Love these but with caveats
I think they are amazing! For the reviews saying they don’t clean, I believe they aren’t using enough pods. We have hard water so we always use the highest amount recommended regardless of brand (so 3 pods) which each load. It works perfectly fine. They actually smell amazing and but the smell only lasts if you don’t run it through the dryer. I noticed for pieces I don’t put in the drier they smell seriously incredible and super clean - not a smell that gives me a headache either. However, if you run your clothes through the dryer the smell disappears and is very faint which is so unfortunate 😅 They do clean really well too! The only problem is the price per load is a lot higher than other brands we swap between (Kirkland, Persil, arm and hammer, etc). And yeah, I wish the smell lasted through the drier 🥲 but the clothes are clean.

I'm in love with the orange blossom scent, happy with the performance as well.

I Wish I'd Found these Sooner!
I have never cared for powered laundry soap, so I've bought liquid soap for years. It's always been the biodegradable kind from either 7th Generation or Ecos. However, those huge plastic bottles - UGH! So now, I have the best of both worlds with Dropps Laundry Detergent Pods. The scent is light and calming. It's true that the smell won't stay on your clothes for days of weeks as seems to be the case with some highly toxic detergents. However, we have a septic tank to consider as well as the overall environment to consider, so not having a lingering smell on my clothes really doesn't concern me. They come out clean and I know I'm doing right by the environment. One pod is usually fine unless I'm doing a fairly large load such as sheets and a blanket, then I drop in two. And not for nothing, but the packaging is simply excellent.

Stains and Odors Build Up Over Time
The short review: I've been using Dropps laundry detergent for 8 months and have found that over time my clothes don't smell clean and some stains just don't come out as well. Will buy something else when I use up what I have. The long review: When I decided to switch from the liquid detergent I'd been happily using for decades due to environmental concerns, I chose Dropps based on the excellent reviews on various websites. For reference, we are a household of 2 retirees who rarely get clothes actually dirty, but we live in Florida so sweat is an almost daily fact of life. I used 1 pod of Dropps for regular loads, and only used 2 for extra large or extra dirty loads. Recently, after using Dropps for about 8 months, I noticed several of my t-shirts have an odor around the collar (where I sweat the most). Then I noticed my sheets weren't as clean, with sweat stains remaining where I sleep. I also had to wash my grandson's shirt after he spilled a strawberry drink on it and it took 2 washings to get it clean even though I used 2 pods - when I know the liquid detergent used to get it out on the first wash. It's possible using 2 pods with every wash would fix my odor and stain issues, but that makes this product too expensive and I'm still not confident it would help. When I use up my current supply I will try something else. I just think Dropps doesn't do quite a good enough job of cleaning and over time it becomes more apparent.

Great price and love the packaging
I love this laundry detergent!! I originally bought a pack of 140 of these for my fiancé and I and they lasted us a year. I ordered the clean linen scent and it does not leave a noticeable scent on your clothes. I will keep buying these for life as I have been trying to reduce my environmental impact, plus they are way easier to use than traditional laundry detergent and very affordable. The only issue I had when first buying these is that I often use cool or cold water when doing laundry, which sometimes prevents laundry pods from dissolving all the way. I've had this same issue in the past with tide pods so it's definitely not unique to this product. Luckily Dropps sells a cold water washing pouch on their website (I haven't seen it on Amazon unfortunately) that you can put the pods in. Then if any residue is left behind it sticks to the pouch and doesn't get on your clothes. It works like a charm and I've never bothered cleaning the pouch on the few times there has been residue, I just throw it back in the wash with another pod the next time I do laundry and it cleans itself.
