Size issues aside, this coat is amazing
I gave the jacket 5 stars because well...the design and actual finished product DESERVES it. The jacket isn’t shoddy or cheap looking, it’s actually very well made.I ordered this for my 14 year-old-son to wear for Halloween, he’s dressing up as King Diamond. I did the research and this jacket was the only one that looked as if it would fit the bill. The pockets are indeed actual working pockets, the fabric is a nice weight velvet and the jacket is lined. I was THRILLED when I opened the package, as way my son. This jacket is worth every penny.Yes, as other reviewers have stated, the jacket doesn’t button & sizing is a bit of a guessing game. My son is aged 14 & knocking around just under 6’0 tall. He’s a string bean in shape, wearing a size 29X32 to 30X32 in most jean brands, slim fit. He will soon cross the rubicon to a 34 inch inseam for his jeans. Chest size 35 inches, neck size 16-16 &1/2, arm length 32/33.He’s SLIM to say the least, in that way most teenage boys are. Tall, lean and lanky. Normally he wants his t-shirts to be size x-large because he likes them long, but he could wear a size smaller, a large, a medium and they’d still fit, just wouldn’t be as long as he likes em...I struggled with what size coat to order. I started to get a large, decided against, then an x-large...got worried that might not fit and in the end? I order the XX-Large. It’s a bit long in the sleeve but not by much & big in the body, but the buttons aren’t functional and even if they were, he wouldn’t button them. In the end, we kept the XX-large, he’s going to have on a dress shirt, suit vest & ascot underneath, so the extra room will make him feel less constricted.Yes, these do run somewhat small. As stated, an XX-Large was just a bit too long in the sleeves on him & too large in the body as well, but not so much that I’d go through the trouble of returning it and buying the x-large. This way, he might be able to wear this with a future costume rather than one wear and outgrowing it.Be mindful of the challenges when choosing a size but don’t let this put you off ordering the coat! It’s beautiful & you’ll be happy if you do. It looks just like the photo.

Hamilton-Style Frock Coat Rocks!
This runs VERY small, but I love it anyway. I am a 5'4" busty and stomachy female, 215lbs, and wear size 18 in plus size women's clothes or size 40w28l in men's jeans. I got the very largest size possible. There is zero chance of this frock coat meeting itself in the middle to button. However, I plan to wear it In winter as my coat when I see "Hamilton" on broadway in Chicago this March. I have made myself a frilly shirt, waistcoat style vest, and breeches style long shorts. All together, along with my tricorn hat, white knee length tights, buckle shoes, and this frock coat, the outfit screams 1789 stylish gentlemen. Also, this total look is actually enhanced by the fact that the frock coat does NOT obscure the rest of the outfit due to not buttoning. Very high quality. Very comfy across the shoulders. I was expecting to dislike the buttons due to the website picture, but in person, the buttons are quite charming. Beware of size running small, but otherwise a perfect product. In my case, I took advantage of 2 amazon website specials and only paid $24 (includes my shipping and handling). Also plan to pay extra for shipping or plan the wait until the very last date of the projected delivery window. I received mine precisely 45 days from purchase because I failed to pay extra for expedited shipping. Go for it. As long as it fits, you won't be sorry.

Decent fit, runs a bit tight
Overall decent fit and good quality. Was used for a Halloween costume of King Diamond. For an adult male who usually wears a Large we ordered a Large and it was a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. Should have sized up one but otherwise achieved the goal.

Simple yet fashionable
Fits amazing it's so comfortable I'll more than likely buy all of them to add to my collection. It saids costume, but to me this is my style of fashion it's not a costume I mix this in with my Gothic aesthetic and I could say Id wear it for a whole month. I finally found my style and I'm happy.

Great purchase!!!
This was perfect! I was looking for a coat for a pirate outfit, but also wanted to use it for future costumes. I wanted something less expensive, good quality, and be able to adapt it to several different types of costumes (eg pirate, steampunk...). This was perfect for that. It's descent quality for the price and worked out well.

3XL just barley fits
The coat matches the description as far as material, color, etc. I purchased a #XL for a 6’2” teen who is built like a football player, relying on reviews of other tall, husky customers. This coat just barley fits in the shoulders, he weighs about 280, mostly muscle, not round and soft. For 3XL, I’d say it’s on the small side. 3 stars for sizing and quality control could be better. There are loose threads all over and some buttons are also loose. Easy enough to trim and sew a little tighter, but for $77, I think it should have come with secure buttons and the threads, tidied up, hopefully the stitching will hold. On the plus side, the velvet is soft and beautiful. The design is awesome, looks really sharp on him!

Excellent coat - Order 1 size larger but not 2!
This is an amazing jacket! The quality and workmanship is excellent. I ordered the off-white one, and I'm very impressed with this coat.I do have some helpful feedback for anyone else interested in these. First, it shipped from the US not China, so it actually came within a few days. Very quick delivery. Second, as a couple people mentioned, the colour of the off-white coat is actually more of an antique white. It has a warm toffee look to it, not really white. The fabric is gorgeous though. Last and most important - based on many peoples suggestion I ordered two sizes larger. It's a bit too big. I normally take a large. I'd have been fine with an XL. Going with XXL means I need to tailor it in. I have a 41 inch chest and a 38 in waist, and the jacket front can overlap by at least 2 inches! This is a great coat! Just pay attention to sizing. An XXL would probably fit a 44-46 inch chest. I might order one of the other colours in a smaller size eventually. It's a great look for the good price.
