Worth it to me!
I’m going to explain why I feel this pricey item is worth it to me and how I use it successfully.I have super thick, waist-long, unruly 2-C type hair that’s prone to being frizzy; but I prefer to keep it sleek and straight (as it’s just easy to manage). This works great for me, but I also use it as the last step of a 4-part process with the Oi Shampoo, Oi Hair Butter and Oi Conditioner. Then I apply the Oi Hair Milk and Oi Oil. When I follow this process, my hair becomes incredibly smooth, soft, shiny (but not greasy) and smells amazing. I also get a full keratin treatment once a year and this allows me to get away without needing to blow dry or flat iron; but I’ll admit my hair tends to look a ‘little’ better when I use one or both. (It’s only air dried in the attached photos.)I agree with other reviewers that mentioned the strong chemical odor. But personally, I really like the smell. It tones down quite a bit after it gets rinsed out.I actually researched the proper way to use Davine’s Oi Liquid Luster. Davine’s channel on YouTube recommends putting this on before conditioning and depicts it as having “no processing time.” The video shows the model just squirting it on her hair while in the shower. Considering the $53 price and the double volume (40 mL as opposed to 20 mL) I have to use, there’s NO WAY I would just throw this on my hair in the shower. It’s getting used to its full capacity! How I use it | I start by parting my hair in the middle and measure 20 mL into a small ceramic cup. Then I dip the bottom 1/2 of my hair in it and carefully comb it through. Then I repeat on the other side with an additional 20 mL. I make sure my hair is already well combed prior to using the Liquid Luster and take care to avoid the roots and upper area of hair (as this will look great at first but terriblygreasy within a few hours).I also use it AFTER conditioning and allow it to stay in for 15 to 30 minutes prior to rinsing out.In between each step, so after shampooing, deep conditioning (Hair Butter), and regular conditioning) I use a microfiber hair towel to “rough dry.” This allows the products to distribute more evenly and effectively.I obviously don’t wash my hair every day like this as it literally takes hours, but usually follow this process once a week, and do a quicker wash mid-week (with just the Oi Shampoo and Hair Butter). This is used in conjunction with dry shampoo on non-wash days to prevent the roots from looking greasy application the Oi Oil to the bottom half to keep it hydrated.

Wow… the shine is like glass.
I love Davines products.Used them for years. My stylist cares it. I have thin hair. This stuff is awesome. Not a strong scent. It does moisturize. Since I have fine thin hair and shoulder length, I literally only need 2 little drops. I don’t put on top because it can flatten it if I use too much. So I put it on the midway down and lightly brush it through some at crown. 5 drops makes my hair look wet. It’s light. Really the best stuff ever used. I have color on mine so it doesn’t hurt my new color. It smoothed it out too. I get frizzy fuzz when it’s humid. And this stuff makes it smoothe, shiny as glass, silky and bouncy. This bottle will last forever.

Awful product!
Awful Awful smell. The smell is so bad that it burns my eyes. The steam in the shower only intensified the horrible stench. It did not gloss my hair at all!

Not worth the $ and smells BAD
Despite absolutely loving other products from the Davines Oi line (such as the shampoo, conditioner and especially the All in One Milk Spray,) I do not like or recommend this product. If it added any shine, I did not notice. It not only lacks the wonderful signature scent of the Oi product line, but it actually smells awful- and I do not mean awful as in "not my scent preference" I mean awful as in it smells like a product that one would use in an engine or some other industrial application. I cannot believe Davines made a hair product that actually smells this bad. Also, the price is ridiculous. $50!? Of course, everyone has very different ideas of what is cheap & what is pricey. I find $36-$40 for hair products to be pricey, but because the Oi shampoo and conditioner work really well for my hair, I'm willing to bite the bullet for those. I can't believe this product is priced even higher considering how much I absolutely hated it.
