Beautiful looking earbuds with excellent sound quality
Great quality set of true wireless earbuds. I looked at several different earbuds that had great ratings and read independent reviews for them too. Time and again the Grell earbuds got the best reviews. I particularly liked the idea of Axel Grell creating these himself after leaving Sennheiser based on his 30+ years of experience. Pure speculation on my part but one has to suspect it was to gain more creative control. The earbuds arrived in minimalist packaging emphasising that every penny has gone to the right place, the earbuds themselves! The box includes a very short charging lead (approx 5-10cm) and five sets of earbud cushions, 3 x latex small, medium and large and 2 x memory foam medium and large. I'm using the memory foam at the moment but this will come down to personal preference. The charging case is metallic and is machined to a very high standard so it all just fits together perfectly. The surface of the case is a slightly textured finish. Internally the case is moulded plastic so the earbuds fit perfectly with no movement once the lid is closed. The important bit. The sound from the earbuds is excellent and once the noise cancelling is on it is totally immersive. There are 3 different noise cancelling modes that each eliminate different types of noise, they work brilliantly but I need to get more experience with these to work out which to apply in different situations. There is also a transparent mode so you can hear a bit more of what is going on around you but don't expect to be able to hold a conversation. If you want to talk to someone then you need to take at least one earbud out, but that's kind of the point isn't it? If you want to listen to music/podcast/audiobook/etc you should have them in, if you need to hear something else then you want them out because, if we're honest, we're not really listening to either properly.Personally I love these and they've got me falling in love with my music all over again. I'll be recommending them to all of my friends and I've already suggested to my wife to get a pair!

Does not connect to App and poor battery life
These sound great but try as I might I cannot get them to connect to the SoundID app. This deprives me of features that I need to fully appreciate their ability and consequent value for money.Still unable to connect to the SoundID app. The battery life is also far below what it claims. I must have a dud. Consigned to the bin where it belongs.

Not quite perfect, but, very very good.
These headphones take a fair amount of ‘ear adjusting’ after deciding on the correct ‘bud’, but once they’re in there the sound quality is excellent. I can’t give them 5 stars overall as the controls are a bit hit and miss. But, I repeat, the sound quality is great and that makes them a good buy.

Amazing sound quality, great noise cancelling, very fair price
Being quite fussy, I have gone through quite a few pairs of headphones, mostly true wireless earbuds, over the last few years (Bang & Olufsen, Bowers & Wilkins, Bose etc). Being an earbud fan used to paying high prices, I was sceptical as these are slightly cheaper than others mentioned above.I read that the guy behind the Grell TWS/1 is Axel Grell, former designer at Sennheiser, so thought with that background I would give them a go and I was pleasantly surprised! In terms of the sound quality, it is impressive. Big bass when wanted, clear and crisp mids and highs. Sound quality is subject to each ones taste, however the Sound ID app is used to ‘tune’ the earbuds to your liking/music taste and makes a massive difference. I like a wide range of music and have found that other earbuds cannot cope/are not suited to such a range, but these handle it well and can be retuned whenever you want (although of course not necessary for every time you change music genre!)The active noise cancelling works really well and makes a massive difference. I often use them in the office to concentrate, just using on the ANC mode (not playing music, but just using to cancel out distractions). The controls are easy to use and the Bluetooth connection works well with easy connection and very stable (no dropouts). The buds fit really comfortably and most importantly they stay put, even when doing sweaty sports such as running. The charging is fast and they last for ages. I would say that the 45h playtime is pretty accurate. I cannot comment on reliability/longevity as I have only had them a month, however, they seem to be a really good build quality and have been used every day so far.

Sound is classy but volume level is abysmal.
I have all the best reviewed earbuds that's been available to the audiophile community in the last few years and the sound quality is good, but the volume is much too low. I don't understand why some earbud manufacturers tune their earbuds so quietly. Axel Grell should take a leaf from is former employer Sennheiser and make the volume similar to the Sennheiser MWT3 earbuds. Absolutely amazing earbuds with fantastic volume. Give the consumer the option to set is own preferred volume level. Should be able to provide that volume in an OTA firmware update. Considering returning them if this cannot be rectified during my return timeframe.
