Shot scope
Used it for one round so far and seems pretty good just need to get in the habit of touching the club before each shot, for putting it’s a bit simpler as you touch it once then input the number of puts to close out the hole. Also good that you can add in any missed shots after the round. Will have to play a few more rounds to get used to it, so far so good and no subscription plan 👍

Very good, but no cigar!
I bought this from Amazon on the 7th September and have so far used it for 5 rounds of golf. The first ‘niggle’ is that you have to include the ‘tagging action’ in your shot routine in order to make sure your club is recognised. This is unlike the V3 which does it automatically. Second ‘niggle’ is having to remember to do the ‘pin collect’ at the end of each hole so the hole is accurately positioned on the green. Having said those two comments I have already got used to the tagging and, even if I forget to do it before I take a shot, as long as it’s done straight after you are okay. The yardages are very accurate as you play giving good distances to the front, middle and back of the green. I’ve already had useful ‘stats’ that are helping me select the right club for the yardage and my game is already improving with my first sub 100 round last week. I find it awkward to deal with penalty shots, lost balls etc., but I’m sure that will come with time. I keep the unit on my belt and have found that the magnet keeps it in place most of the time. However, for the first time today at the 10th hole, I realised the unit had fallen out on the 9th, and as I couldn’t find it had to continue with my round. Luckily I found it later in the rough at the back of the 9th green. I have decided that I need to use a small pad of Velcro to keep in place or I will use the supplied carabiner to secure it to my bag or other similar location to stop it happening again. I have read reports that after a lot of use the tags on the handle of the clubs start to wear thin after rubbing on the bottom of the bag. I have put small self adhesive felt pads on each club to counteract this and they don’t interfere with the tagging at all. My particular course was included in the unit but my Wilson clubs were not recognised. A quick message to Shotscope support sorted that within 24 hours, very impressive service. Overall I like the unit, particularly the detailed stats, which will develop and be more accurate over time. There is no facility to see an ‘overview’ of each hole in real time and is only visible once the data has been ‘synced’ to your phone at the end of the round. Although the putts are recorded, if you tag your putter for each putt, you still have to say how many putts you took at the ‘pin collect’ stage. If you forget the ‘pin tag’ and putts, and move on to the next hole, you cannot go back to the green you left to correct your error as the system will have already moved on to the next hole automatically. As a result although all your tagged shots are recorded your actual score is not recorded correctly and has to be edited later. The subsequent editing is a bit fiddly on your phone or tablet, but on a Windows PC or laptop it is much easier. To be fair the H4 is all about the stats and is not a ‘score keeper’. To that end I use another app on my phone and Apple Watch which does allow me to register the number of shots and putts, and also gives me a hole by hole ‘flyover’ but that doesn’t give the detailed stats that the H4 does. My only other gripe is that it’s now only the 24th September and this unit is now on special offer an is £20 cheaper than what I paid! Just my luck.

Go for watch
Functionally good but the magnet is not near strong enough to hold the device in the clip. Extremely likely you will loose it on the course: I did. There is no pin on the device to thread a safety lanyard like on a camera or range finder The device itself works fine but I will replace with a watch that I can't loose

Can't wait to use it
Have a GPS watch which I find quite restrictive and does not produce data relating to shot placement or average distance of each club. The instruction manual is brief but fairly comprehensive with supporting videos to watch or download. This will keep me from keeping a written log for each round. Very neat, sturdy and compact and the club tags are non intrusive.

I purchased the device to use for stats tracking and to see where my game needs improvement. It was easy to setup and doesn't disrupt my round when recording shots. Your data is presented nicely in the app and you can compare your stats to a Tour Pro and other skill levels. The GPS features works great for distances to the green and hazards on the course. The best benefit compared to Arccos is that there is no subscription fee. I'd highly recommend the H4 GPS unit for stat tracking and GPS distances on the course.

I recently played a round of golf with someone that had something similar that was just for GPS yardage. Once I looked around I came across this product and decided to give it a try. This is an amazing tool for any golfer that wants to better understand what areas they need to work on. There is so much good data captured and it is super easy to use. I would recommend watching the YouTube video's the company sponsors showing you how to use it and how to get the most out of the data. Highly recommend it.

Shot capture is flawless and easy to confirm with the vibration. Saves a lot of time in editing post play. Took me a while to understand how to record consecutive shots with same club ie putter... simple as retagging your club at each location. Better battery life than the V3 watch. Interface during play could be improve such as current scoring or providing shot distance without having to scroll through the menu... The magnet is strong and i did not experience dropping the unit during play. Unlike other gps golf watch, this is more about recording your shots with as little time/interactions as possible while you play and more about reviewing your stats after the round, the yardage to obstacles being a plus... I have owned the Garmin s62 and although it was more complete and intuitive during play, i was frustrated with on course distraction it creates vs focusing on playing and interaction with foursome players. The putting stats is also underwhelming ie manual entry of putting strokes and no distance capture. At this price point this is a nobrainer. Unit could be thinner and larger display but at this price point...
