The sheen is shinier than you think.
I picked this product because I thought that it would be economical. Considering the price of all of this furniture painting stuff this came as a good recommendation. The sheen is a little shinier than I wouldโve thought by the description by the manufacturer. It is not a nice hand rubbed medium sheen. It is kind of high. It went on really well, dried really well cleaned up really well. I have no problems with the end product except that the sheen is higher than I wouldโve wanted. With that in mind, I would have picked a different product.

Ease of application and clean up
I've used this product for 5 years with total success on plastic items, wood, glass, metal. It's simple to use with sponge brushes or other types, cleans up nicely with water after use and let's not forget the wide range of color choices available. I have always purchased and used the clear sealant after the chalk is dried. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Ease of application, clean up, and use. Finished product is awesome.

Discolored and ruined everything.
I really wanted to like this product but it discolored BADLY and ruined the interior cabinetry of a $17,000 RV. Iโve been looking for something that could paint over cabinets in an RV without using lots of toxic chemicals or needing too much preparation. After trying several different products, this seemed like it was going to suit my needs. I painted everything white with the same brand and color Vanilla Frosting. I wanted to put a clear seal on top so Iโd be able to clean easily, especially in the kitchen. My first jar of clear seal seemed to work just fine. A tiny bit of a yellow cast, but thatโs not a bad thing. Unfortunately, I dropped the container and spilled most of it so I had to order another. The problem is mainly with the second container of clear seal. It is anything but clear. It went on just fine and appeared clear. But not long after, it turned this strange terra-cotta pink color. And unfortunately, because it was the second container, I was using it to touch up areas all over cabinets where I had missed a spot. So it basically ruined the entire interior cabinetry of the RV I was painting because you can see every spot where it went on even a tiny bit thick, every spot where there is even a tiny bit of a drip, and completely discolored and distorted the color of the white paint underneath. This clear top coat feels basically like a very thin coat of plastic, so Iโve tried going in with a razor blade and scraping or peeling away any place where there was a drip or a thicker layer of the clear seal. But that has been almost impossible. I canโt get the discolored clear seal out of the natural grooves and bevels of the surface of the cabinets. Not even sandpaper could get down in these crevices. And if I try sanding down one of the drips or thicker areas, I inevitably takeoff paint in the surrounding areas, which just makes it worse. Incredible inconsistency in this product, and I would not recommend.

Great option for indoor use!!
Refurbished a bakers rack for my bedroom. Searched for a clear coats whose toxins wouldn't kill me while using it or off gas while I was sleeping! Looks great! Over a light sage green no VOC room paint, didn't notice any change in color. Dried clear. I had a few issues, but believe it was user (me) error... Used a brush (I think was old so bristles came off...) and tried a sponge brush.

Hard to use and not forgiving!
I have no doubt this is a great product, but it was so hard to use. I spent so much time painting carefully for the finish to be ruined by a splotchy top coat. Thereโs quite a learning curve. No doubt once you figure it out, Iโm sure itโs fine, it was just too hard for me, and I even watched the videos.

Eco-friendly and smell less product
The best coat I have purchased. It is very Eco-friendly. I can barely smell something when I super close to the can. It is clear and shinny after applying on top of the wooden product. I recommended this product when I sell my own items.

Works beautifully and will never burst into flames ...!
This stuff is really nice. I salvaged a beat-up old table that had lovely bones: sanded and stained it and then applied 3 thin coats of this top coat. It looks beautiful! You could never tell how it suffered in a previous life. Also, the eco-friendly part didn't really mean that much to me until I read the fine print on the varathane gel and realized that it's prone to spontaneous combustion. !!! I'll be looking for eco-friendly from now on!

Ok product
I actually prefer the wax for finishing chalk painted furniture but I ordered this by mistake and it worked out fine. Itโs a very small jar but it goes on well and spreads easily.
